We're sitting on money especially when we get Foran's 350k.
Are we though mate? Why did we go cold when he said he wanted a million? How long will the Foran money take?

We're sitting on money especially when we get Foran's 350k. I'm sure we could find ways to raise an extra 100-200k. I'm not sure that's the issue tho. Also we're spending "a lazy half a million" on Leilua so why not go the extra step... I'd rather do someone a bit crazy to fit Latrell in but maybe that's just me.
How crazy though? Talks from Tigers it was what? 1.3-1.4 mil? And still no signature. The market isn’t budging. Greedy ass managers!!

They should be able to get an answer pretty quickly, there is no investigation or due diligence required, a doctor's report on his injury would suffice allowing the dogs to act quickly with latrell or whomever else ( frawley lol )

When the Roosters offer was 650k we offered 850k. When the Roosters offer was 800k and the Tigers came in we pulled out (too much money?). At the time having to sign Latrell for 2020 could of turned us off but that was before we knew we'd be getting 350k (at least) for Foran. I believe we were in for at least two out of three players out of Ramien, Koroisau and Ese'se. We've only signed Katoa and Britt (possibly before?) since then. I also don't know how long Foran's money would take but I don't see a world where we don't get at least 350k so I think it's pretty safe to use it before we receive. I don't think the club should of went public saying we won't peruse Latrell anymore (I hope we're in the background tho). At the end of the day I now think it's very unlikely to see Latrell here anymore which I'm obviously disappointed about.

I hope so. I wonder how long it took Canberra to get their money in these circumstances

All media speculation figure wise but if the tigers have offered 1.3 there is no way I’d pay that even if we could afford it. Some at the club deny ever being interested in Latrell due to his asking price

We need to.put pressure on.thr nrl get latrells signature first and get them.to.register it asap.....use the court of public opinion as well if they drag their feet ..... using forans money and international.game injury ...., they cannot fine us for being over the cap, we are upfront and honest from day dot with a paper trail.
Make it happen.

Don't believe it ....based on this thinking we could offer 850k plus 350k which is 1.2M right ?

Forans cap money isn’t available until 2021. Just because you are injured you don’t get a rebate on your contract. It’s not the M5 cash back.

You can however apply for a 350k cap “exemption” so to say. So you can replace a player that was lost in a rep game.

Where the Foran thing is a big of a grey area. Since the 350k thing was introduced I don’t think a player has been wiped out for a season or more. So this is where hopefully the nrl can use common logic.

If Souths get 2.2 million for burgess who was pretty much cooked anyways. Wasn’t really injured in a game, more body let him down. And Souths fucked up by signing him. Why Do they get an advantage. Where a player who was injured in a rep game and his club that wasn’t at fault gets fucked sideways. But they still pay him.

The fair thing would be NRL or the NZ team pick up his salary. And it’s taken off the books allowing us to Atleast field a team that is on par with other teams. Not starting 1.2 million behind the pack. Then getting $350k (which is more likely given to be used to bring in juniors or nsw cup players up to cover injury, not to buy a new player).

Burgess medically retired so there is your first difference.

If it's 100% Foran will miss the full season and the club declares they won't resign him (which they can't go back on, NRL doesn't register him) then I don't see why we couldn't get the whole 1.2m. That's somewhat logical. Only two players worth signing, 1: Latrell and 2: Tetevano. Then what would we do with the rest? Front load contracts?

Just on the above. Knowing Foran he would do everything possible to come back early. There were 2 options Foran could go down. If I was to guess he won't come back 100%, fully recovered. So possibly not out for the season.

Even with Foran's full salary we're not going to be on par with other teams. It'll be nice to have tho.

This might be the making of Joey Leilua, but it also has the potential to be the end of his days in the NRL.

With Jordan Rapana heading for a code switch to Japanese rugby, Curtis Scott’s pending arrival at the Raiders has now turned up the heat on the wild side of the “Leipana” magic act like never before.

Long regarded as one of the game’s most destructive but volatile players, it makes you wonder if this decision to chase Scott has been specifically designed to leave Leilua with no option but to change his ways.

At his best there is no question Leilua is still one of the game’s most dangerous attacking weapons.

But too often his defensive lapses along with his propensity to let his emotions get the better of him have been his undoing.

The A-League is back! All in one place on Foxtel Foxtel Now 10 day free trial*

Off contract at the end of next season, there has been constant speculation for months that the Samoan international may be on the move.

But so far no rival club has shown a genuine interest to take him.

That hasn’t stopped the Raiders offering Scott a four-year deal that will guarantee his long term future from 2020.

Leilua has publicly guaranteed that he will be playing out the final year of his contract with Canberra, but that does not guarantee his spot in Ricky Stuart’s team going forward.

The fact is there isn’t room for him and Scott in the same team.

Rapana’s departure has opened up a spot on the wing, but while Scott would no doubt be capable of playing there what can’t be disputed is that he is a specialist centre.

Given Jarrod Croker owns the left centre position, that means Leilua and Scott will be fighting it out all summer to see who deserves first crack on the right edge.

The Raiders are due back for pre-season in early December and by that stage Scott’s deal will be finalised.

The other factor in Scott’s favour is that he is only 22 while Leilua turns 28 in December.

It’s one of several tough contract negotiations the Raiders will be challenged with in the coming months with Croker, Nick Cotric and Jack Wighton also off contract at the end of next season.

Cotric and Wighton will no doubt receive huge interest from rival clubs.

Cotric has the potential to also establish himself as a top class centre although he’s played his best football on the wing and that is where his future will be if the stays at the Raiders.

Holmes, Cowboys agree terms
NRL: The Courier Mail is reporting that Valentine Holmes has agreed to terms with the Cowboys.

Wighton will also be out to back up his best season when the Clive Churchill Medal winner teams up with new halves partner, Englishman George Williams.

Wighton had an option to extend his deal until the end of 2021 but knocked that back after a recent change of management.

No doubt the Raiders will want this all settled sooner rather than later so it doesn’t become a disruption when the new season kicks off.

The Raider that we should be going for is Cotric.

Especially if he's going to be stuck on the wing and wants to play centre or fullback.

Be happy with not signing anyone that names in the headline in this thread.
A lot of the angst in loosing so many players and rebuilding our roster would be totally compounded if we buy that lazy, impulsive player.
