Agree we pull out at end of week where not gonna match raiders offer 900 k over 4 years we dont pay overs
I don’t believe that we are flying under the radar next season like we were last season. There is plenty of media around in all forms about how we are on a rapid upwards trajectory. Plus the betting markets are a good reflection of where we are in people's thinking, as always follow the money.Spot on with this.
My way of thinking is that the club is still a relative unknown to people as from the outside we've had just one semi decent year. So, it still seems like a bit of a gamble which I understand.
But anyone within the club knows this team is going places, and last year's improved performances were only just a start.
Once we have another top year people and potential new signings will take us more seriously.
It's best to wait till then and players join us for the right reasons rather than simply money.
If Thompson wants the cash then goodbye. Just like May. Like Hunt.
All of them will be kicking themselves within a year, and I'm completely comfortable saying that.
I love a new signing, but we need to be patient and trust the process as it's that process which has got us back to where we are. Going against it now will only be detrimental to the team.
Bring on '25 I say and let's show these idiots that our dynasty has just begun
The only thing really interesting is why did he meet with us the other week? Article saying both walked away happy? Happy with what?
Interesting comment. Maybe banking on some juniors coming through to bolster them because if anything I think they might finish lower on the table in 2025 then they did in 2024. Plus we lapped them twice this year.Doggies supporter for 40 years mate.. Just checking any info their forum might have... Interestingly they think they are on par with us and raiders.
They do have a quality forward pack and yet couldn't make the top eight this year and haven't won a comp for some time.yep I agree with you. We will withdraw our offer within the next few days. He will be signing with the Raiders. What is annoying is that they have such a quality forward pack and they are adding another quality prop where we are desperate for some quality forwards.
I totally agree, like I said, its based off 1 season, if he does that for like 3 seasons? okay. Until then, id offer him 600k tbh. Anyway usually when we are in the running to sign someone you know its not us.Good numbers Watto but he isn't in the top 10 props in the game so he doesn't demand that kind of money. If he doesn't want to come for ~$650k then we tell him thanks and move on. I mean we have to stick to our guns and our recruitment strategy of not paying overs and not paying blokes who only want to come here for money.
With 2 new teams.coming in, player values will Sky rocket. 900 won't be overs for him shortlyAgree we pull out at end of week where not gonna match raiders offer 900 k over 4 years we dont pay overs
You're a fool... IF you don't make an offer what is the player supposed to do? make a decision first then work out the money later? fck me you're the one with zero business skills or knowledge. For the 400th time, the only time we make an official offer is when the player commits to our club.
Why would we make an offer to someone that doesn't want to play for us and just use us as a bargaining tool?
It's clear when someone has zero business skills and experience....
Its worth paying Thompson $750k a year. That's the market now..I was just curious about numbers because I hadn't looked em up yet but decided to compare thompson and Fish:

I mean.. 800-900k is overs based off 1 season.. but those are pretty good stats no?
Anyways, enjoy the canberra brah
When there may be 2 new clubs competing for his signature by the end of the year, it's better to get him locked up nowIts worth paying Thompson $750k a year. That's the market now..
Also we have killer and enari in our cornerThe only thing really interesting is why did he meet with us the other week? Article saying both walked away happy? Happy with what?

Maybe their recruitment strategy is not what it should be.
Huh...Can you say it againFor the 400th time, the only time we make an official offer is when the player commits to our club.
Why would we make an offer to someone that doesn't want to play for us and just use us as a bargaining tool?

Agreed.Look. I'm comfortable with what the club is doing. I'd love to be signing all of these players as we all know we need more quality, but paying overs for players when we've got good young lads coming through is just bad business on many fronts.
Yes, we'd all love to be challenging for the premiership this year but let's stop dreaming and look long-term.
Creating a dynasty isn't about one offs but having a clear process and approach to things. We'll get there.
I'll tell my mum next time I'm out at Rookwood Cemetery mate lol

I can't say as I watched every one of Thompson's games, but I watched enough to say with confidence that he is better (more valuable) then a number of forwards on that list.
