Official Dogs sign Leo Thompson (2026)

Personally I think there's no chance Thompson is coming here. As soon as there becomes a circus we step away.

I'm sure we've put a proposal to him, but we wouldn't get dragged into a bidding war and it seems as though that war is raging.

I'd expect us to officially withdraw interest by the end of the week

You’re ok mate! Your hung like a field mouse so coppers won’t know what they looking at!!!
FFS. I told your mum to stop telling those secrets. Never trusted her tbh. Especially after the snake incident

For the 400th time, the only time we make an official offer is when the player commits to our club.

Why would we make an offer to someone that doesn't want to play for us and just use us as a bargaining tool?

It's clear when someone has zero business skills and experience....
I disagree ....we should make an offer for him to show our intent. If Thompson comes to us and says I'm interested and we make him an offer and he doesn't accept ? He needs to compare offers to make a decision. At the end of the day he will go to the,Raiders. They are offering him top dollar, he has connections there. We are not yet a club where players will come to us and sign for 200k less a year. That will hopefully change in the next few years. I agree with the club not paying overs but if Canberra are offering him 800k a year we could offer him 750k per year and that may be the difference in securing his signature. Ffs we need some props and we have the salary cap space.

yep I agree with you. We will withdraw our offer within the next few days. He will be signing with the Raiders. What is annoying is that they have such a quality forward pack and they are adding another quality prop where we are desperate for some quality forwards.

It depends on what you mean by offer though.

Of course, the club would present the ballpark of what they're looking at fair amount.

But an official offer will only go in once they believe the player is truly interested in joining us.

It happened with that Tigers prop that went to Melbourne. I believe it happened with Papa.

The rest I'm not sure about?

The only thing really interesting is why did he meet with us the other week? Article saying both walked away happy? Happy with what?
well now he is happier with the Raiders because he will be on top dollar.

If true hopefully mooney and the other young islander prop wants out cause they look like prospects!

Yeah, but it means the Raiders are then getting top heavy in their cap management paying so much for a prop who doesn't deserve that type of coin.

It affects how they keep youngsters, and also future recruitment as they'll be seen as a pushover when it comes to negotiations.

If all of this is true

Ah mate. You're getting it all wrong. That night when we were both with your mum, I introduced him to the wig and he loved it. As did your mum.
Ahhh bud you’re mixing it up… I’m not your brother. You 3 really love to keep it in the family!

Agree he’s not at 24 but at 26 is he?

Also is the media as usual plucking numbers out their ass… speaking of plucking out of their ass. Send my love to your mother

Agree. For the most part, we appear to be making offers to quality players on the market based on their true value. If it sticks, it’s a win, if it doesn’t, we’ve forced another club to pay overs and that makes them a little more vulnerable…a player like Pahulu, however, fits our recruitment strategy (high ceiling, good value and very determined).

Look. I'm comfortable with what the club is doing. I'd love to be signing all of these players as we all know we need more quality, but paying overs for players when we've got good young lads coming through is just bad business on many fronts.

Yes, we'd all love to be challenging for the premiership this year but let's stop dreaming and look long-term.

Creating a dynasty isn't about one offs but having a clear process and approach to things. We'll get there.

I'll tell my mum next time I'm out at Rookwood Cemetery mate lol
