Players considered the biggest factors in influencing their decision. These included things such as location, chance of on field success, coaching staff, playing squad, front of office, financial position of club, opportunity to further improve as a player.

No Suprise we are struggling to recruit anyone of note. Forget blaming the cap we cant even attract players in the midfield money range.

Its good to get a few wins on the board, but there are big issues our club has to face, one of our biggest is not being an attractive club for recruits. You cant win without the cattle and we definately dont have a premiership winning squad next year. Its a tough sell, but its up to our board to make the club a place good players want to come to, not just kids looking for an opportunity.

From Roy Masters article:

"Canterbury polled in the bottom quarter of the player survey and a study of its finances, as at October 31, 2017, suggests its leagues club will be forced to cut back on grants to the football club.
Its operating profit was down $5.8m on the previous year and cash on hand had declined by $6m.

Its financial costs were nil. However, debt had increased by $2.587m and $18.96m for a total of $21.547m, to fund a new club development. Since October last year, the debt would have increased significantly."

Who would want to live near Canterbury? It’s a third world section of Sydney
You don't have to live near where you work. Alot of these guys are on decent money and can live where they choose.

The other things mentioned have more significance then location.

Canterbury or Belmore are like Paris compared to Penrith and they seem to be able to attract players and keep all of their juniors they want...

Plus, plenty of our players have and do live around the shire so it's not like they have to live in Belmore.

Why can’t we mainly be a club where we attract the kids and build from the ground up? That’s a club I can support if I wanted to support a club that just buys players yearly there is always the roosters. Most of the big money buys we have had haven’t been that good and are a complete waste of money as they are just looking for a pay cheque.

What a load of crap.. sure we are bottom of the table but we're in most games... we make good meters and we defend well... I think a play maker would love to play behind our pack with the addition of Sue coming off the bench and they would see that all we need is to fill those key positions to be a real threat again. We are also a club who don't stay down long

Canterbury and beyond are good suburbs it's the belmore/lakemba/wiley park that's not appealing.
What's not appealing about Belmore as a suburb locality compared to every other suburb or locality in Sydney that is not as beach or the CBD? Is Redfern more appealing?
Penrith and its surrounding suburbs?
Campbelltown and its surrounds? Parramatta and its surrounds?

Redfern is more appealing because you can live in Surry hills
