He is like a few of the younger players coming thru potentially would look a hell of a lot better with quality around him especially in the middle and spine.

A couple of years ago, Averillo was our best halves player at 5/8th, he is then moved to halfback where he was rather average, he then is moved to fullback and becomes best at that spot and then moved to centre where is once again best in that spot.

And yet some in TK want him gone.....

Let's be honest 2025's the year now. The odds of us getting a quality experienced half for a couple of years and a marquee middle for next year are very low. 1 of the 2 would probably be enough to make top 8 and both could push us into the 4 but we're also a cursed club so who knows anymore.

I've read Gus saying it could take 5 - 10 years. If we became a real top 4 threat in 2 - 3 many fans and probably even members of our board would say we don't need Gus anymore at his huge salary of 1M a year.

Gus does have a financial motive to stretch it out for as long as possible. I hope this isn't his motivation but for many people in his circumstances it would be.

The main problems I have with our recruiting is why we didn't make a play for Adam Reynolds it seems. He would have stayed in Sydney for less than moving his family interstate surely. Why didn't we go harder for Shaun Johnson, Hynes, Reece Walsh, Junior Paulo, etc etc. Why did we overpay Burton when he's not what we need most ? Why did our club take so long to buy a decent hooker ? Why are we taking a chance with Crichton next year instead of buying an established fullback ? We could have bought Lachlan Miller for cheap. Why don't we still have a decent 7 or 1 representative quality prop when others have multiples ? Why don't our first grade team have the skills to quickly spread the ball along the whole backline like every other team can including our reserve grade team ?
