Barrett had a long term vision for the team. We needed results quick. Our goals weren’t aligned.
We’ve been playing like shit since last couple of seasons with Des, followed by some crappy seasons with the trucker and his crap recruits. The club was in a diabolical state. Yeah Barrett made some questionable calls - averillo at halfback then dumps him completely. The other is signing flanagan and the subsequent treatment. Two massive blunders.
Barrett did do some good things. There are some good development players coming through and he signed some good players, one of those is burton. Did he leave the club in better shape than when he arrived, I think the answer is yes. I just don’t think the players bought into his vision. They were happy to go through the motions until better recruits arrived.
