I bought a PYE system, something similar to the bottom one, as my first major purchase when I first started working, on a hire purchase deal, as it was fairly pricey at the time.

I'm pretty sure our first TV was a PYE too.

I think from that era, we had Akai hi-fi stuff at our place. But I definitely remember a lot of families in the hood had Pye systems.

I remember the Old corner shops all draped in Streets Ice Cream Advertising and the stripes were prominent. Does everyone remember that? Your signs made me remember when I saw you found the old Streets Ice Cream signs.

The stores have closed, but you can still access stores online. By the looks of things, JB-HI FI are the only stores left to buy physical CDs, Records, DVDs and BluRay discs.

I still remember my first unaccompanied trip to the city was to go there. Just me and a mate catching the train from Penrith to the big smoke, would have been 13 iirc. Good memories. I spent what seemed like hours drooling over all the Tamiya RC stuff.

They still have a store in the QVB, or did just before covid hit. Not as good as that one, but still some good stuff in there.
