and the leg pulls from Qld since the first minute of the game.

Fck how the ref could miss soo many leg twists and pulls, but gave a penlaty to Qld when JT tripped himself over a NSW player near NSW try line.
According to the stats on the NRL site, possession was 50/50 at the end of the game. So each team had the ball for 40 minutes.

QLD had 37 total sets, 32 complete sets. NSW 32 sets, 28 complete.

Dividing time with the ball by both counts, we get:

Total sets: QLD 65 seconds per set. NSW 75 seconds per set.
Completed sets: QLD 75 seconds per set. NSW 86 seconds per set.

Where are those extra 10 seconds coming from? At least half of them come from QLD laying all over the play the ball and infringing in the ruck.

They seemed to find so many reasons to stop play when NSW had the pill, letting QLD defence get set.

Also is it legal to let someone else play the ball that you got tackled with after play has been stopped? When Hodges got tackled and play stopped he let another player play the ball while he went back to his position

Wasnt it a knock on from Tate into Tupou in the 3rd min? It resulted in a scrum and a try to Darius Boyd.

The Hodko knock on was a shocker.
YES! I said the same thing at the time and sure enough it lead to a try. If that went up for review it would have been called a knock on.

All those stops and starts to make sure QLD had all that time was pretty bad aswell, still don't agree with some of those penalties given against us

Not too sure if this was mentioned, there was one call where the guy who shits in hallways passes to Smith and Smith knocks it on. The referee called knock on, yet the guy who shits in hallways held the ball. It should have been a penalty and not a knock on. Bit of a difference between the 2 calls.

Didn't he also throw the ball 10 meters away or was that another incident?

YOU BLEW IT, SHAYNE

THE brutal nature of last night’s opening Origin game means a number of the stars will be missing from Game Two. And referee Shayne Hayne should be a non-starter as well after his sub-standard display at Suncorp Stadium.

The longer the game went, the better the players got and the worse Hayne got.

And don’t worry about the other ref, Ben Cummins, he was a virtual passenger as the senior man Hayne made all the big calls.

Consider these clangers when you’re weighing up Hayne’s claims to the whistle for Game Two:

Queensland’s opening try of the night came after a Brent Tate knock on going for a high ball was missed and Qld were wrongly given a scrum feed. (Some help from the touch judge would be nice!);
Josh Papalii’s cheap shot on Paul Gallen well after he had passed the ball and with his back turned didn’t even earn a penalty. And Beau Scott produced a similar hit on Billy Slater late in the match and got away with it;
The knock on call against NSW in the dying seconds to give Queensland one last shot was just plain wrong;
The penalty against Michael Jennings for tackling Justin Hodges without the ball a few minutes earlier was a shocker;
In the first half Mr Hayne stopped play to allow Brent Tate to be taped up because he was bleeding. In the NRL, trainers are told to take players out the back and tend to them while the play continues but Hayne inexplicably stopped the game last night and took all the momentum away;
Jarryd Hayne should have been penalised when he flew through the air just after half-time and made no attempt to catch a bomb but simply put Billy Slater off.

Mercifully, there were very few penalties blown, which allowed a magnificent contest to flow but that’s about the only positive I can find in the performance by Shayne Hayne, who should find himself watching from the grandstand at ANZ Stadium in three weeks’ time.

Nobody wants to see a massive game like Origin decided by dud refereeing so let’s give someone else a crack in Sydney and hope the clangers can be avoided.

The Hodkinson knock on killed me. Actually, I lie, the one where you can hear Cummings yell out "milking, milking, milking" and 3 seconds later Hayne blows a penalty is what killed me.

I didn't notice actually, I was too busy laughing tbh. Finally channel nein did a slow-mo on something worthwhile, the look on Smith's face as the ball bounced off it was priceless.

The refs performance was almost criminal.

It should be the basis of a new Underbelly series: A tale of 2 halves!

Yeah, they didn't show a replay which was weird. If the referee has acknowledged that Smith knocked on and Myles picked it up, Myles would be deemed to be offside.

It doesn't sound like much but that's at least 20 metres difference from where NSW get the ball.

In a game that close it could have made all the difference. All in all NSW got the Lion's share of bad calls, good refereeing would probably have seen NSW win more comfortably, no doubt.
