No one has mentioned that des only used 1 interchange in the first half.Thats impressive
come on bro, thats like making Mitchell Starc bowl every second over of the inning and not using Josh Hazelwood at all and still getting the opposition out under 200 runs.

Maybe if Hazelwood shared the load of the bowling with Starc we could have got opposition out under 100 runs instead of 200.

it is not rocket science.

I mentioned that a few times various threads but predictably the naysayers ignored it and someone even criticised it lol

Other way you could look at it is we finished all over the Warriors with fresh legs running downhill with 15 to go

I've watched the game twice and our fitness despite so much defence early is really impressive

It was round 3. Watch round 20 and up. Than I'll come back to you and remind you what you said.

Thats not surprising one bit considering
-no kick chase
-no line speed in defence
On line was impressive. The rooster game was a little throw back in the first 15. But i always wondered if the ploy was to move up slow and let the attack come to the defense. Save energy pushing up and back. I don't rate it .

Melbourne seem to be able to offer good line speed throughout 80minutes, it actually sets up their attack. Their entire game plan revolves around it.

Storm game plan:
1. Kick and chase
2. fast line speed holding opposition to within their own 30-40m line
3. Pressure the kicker

These key actions allows them to start their attack just short of half-way.

If and when the opposition ever gets in the Storm attacking zone, blind Freddy knows the storm tactics are to slow the ruck to the point of it being ridiculous. Allows them to set their line and get some air into the lungs. Risk is 2 points but they are prepared to take it and test the refs ressolve.

It's a pretty ballsy strategy by Des if he's willing to come from behind in games as a means to have fresher 2nd half legs.

In the 3 games so far we have finished stronger than our opponents so perhaps their is method to the madness.

Loved the Dogs defense so far, it should always be our priority, even if our attack flops our defense gets us points by hammering loose balls.

This is all due to their ability to get an extra 3 seconds per play-the-ball. If the referees held them to the same standard as the rest of the comp with regards to the ruck, they wouldn't look so fit.

Dragons 2010 won the comp on defence. if we can get the attack right, keeping in mind it's only been 3 rounds with the new style/new fullback, we will be in a good position.

Using one replacement was a good move. The Islander guys in the NZ team always tire towards the end of games.
Stamina has always been their problem.

B lee is great with the ball but a big liability on the edge. Our right looked good with the 3 josh's but left was weak. Mbye struggled with Johnson but lee kept racing up past the ball. Hope he learns quick. Other the left edges we were very solid against a big team

The effort is there and has been throughout the first three rounds. However, we're lacking a bit of polish offensively and a good game manager.

The effort in defence yesterday was very impressive

They say defence is all about attitude and committment and to keep to Warriors to 1 try from running play after 50 tackles in our redzone deserves a huge wrap

I know their are many here wanting a change in coach but the players are clearly still highly motivated to play under Des if the attitude & desperation in defence is anything to go by.
Well said GDog
