Seriously? Like you have much choice - lol.
Lets see..........................

Coaches not signed up from 2020:
Brad Arthur - Coaching Parramatta since 2014. No silverware. 46% win rate
Paul McGregor - Coaching St George since 2014. No silverware. 50% win rate

Dean Pay - 1 year with dogs. 32 win rate
Took on the poison chalice (inherited issues from previous coaching and board decisions, overrated players, salary cap issues, broken marquee signings etc etc etc). I am in no way making up excuses for the man, after all - excuses are for losers. What i am saying is that you cannot objectively call for his head after such a small time frame. Team has changed, dynamics have changed, lost some faces and gained some new ones - it takes time to get the team to gel together, combos sorted and getting the right person in the right position(s)

People on here need to remember - The expert in anything was once a beginner.
And in keeping with the Bulldog's spirit - You are not defeated when you lose, You are defeated when you quit.

Go Dogs!

This weeks game is probably the biggest game of Pay's career so far.

Its obvious we don't have the cattle to compete on a talent level this year but the effort and attitude was the most alarming thing and that is something that can be fixed by Pay.

If Pay can't get them up then he is going to be in trouble with the draw coming up after the Tigers game.

Throw the kitchen sink and the lawn mower at Craig Bellamy .. he doesn't just know how to bring the best out of his players but also knows how to pick the right people to have around him to build success.

Exactly.
If you pay peanuts - you can only expect monkeys. The hardest thing for Pay, is to get the most of what he has got to work with. 1 loss isn't the end of the season when the season just started.
Yes - they looked like lost puppies. But that was round 1. Learn from the mistakes and move on.

Go dogs!

Mr I, with all respect, you are on crazy pills. You're the only one that keeps mentioning BenAnderson as a potential coach. He has never coached above 20s ( and unsuccessfully) and even with his connections, if they appointed him coach, they would lose all credibility. I saw in another thread Noddy was mentioned as a replacement. Noddy was sacked from the west tigers 20s after 1 year. All players stating he had NFI. Keep him him for specialist coaching. My mail is if Pay fails, Holbrook will be signed.
Ben Anderson is the long game 100% as far as his parents are concerned.
And he is 100% bulldogs.

I'm not sure if Pay survives this season, if the team finish bottom 4 he may not.

Bad start, but its only one game in..

Pays contract ends this year..

We are no chance of signing anyone of note in the market until we have a coach locked in for 2020 and beyond..

With all this in mind, and the fact Pay is also only early on in his career, how long should he be given by the club until a call is made on who is our 2020 coach..
Dean pay is a good coach, don’t right off the bulldogs yet, 7 new players, time to gel as a team. I’m sure there will come out hungry against the eels. Who knows what the mind set is when they were in New Zealand after a massacre attack. Warriors were aggressive and angry the dogs weren’t prepared for that. Let people talk shit about the dogs there is 24 rounds left. Give the team a chance.

So from all the players that have gone through the system, you're going to pinpoint 1 or 2 players and question his credentials LOL?
That's not what i said at all. What i am saying is that all that glitters is not gold.
Some will say his a great coach because Melb have won the premiership. But i tend to disagree. If the players are great - the coach looks even greater.
After, Bellamy has only won 4 titles for the storm (2 stripped due to salary cap rorting - so really only 2 titles). They were also only played 7 grand finals (including the 4 mentioned)

Does this make him a great coach? I am not with you on this one - sorry.

I honestly believe half the problem is "too many cooks" these days.

Defensive coach, attacking coach, skills coach, assistant coach, head coach, wrestling coach.

If everyones not on the same page it just complicates things and makes an absolute mess of them. A new coach doesn't need more distractions he needs less.

Go back to the days of Coach and Asst Coach.. make things easier.

I have heard from probably 5 people now about Anderson being potentially pushed/promoted.

My personal opinion is that a coach is only mildly important. It's the quality of the players that determines results in most cases. There is simply no need to rush to sign Pay, it's not like teams are lining up to sign him. WAIT.

Holbrook should have always been the man we turned to. Pray if he comes that he brings some of StHelens quality with him.

Seriously everyone needs to get off Pay's case. He didn't hire himself into the role.
I'd like to see how many on here would succeed as NRL coach.
It's a bloody hard job let alone the shit he's walked into.
If he's not up to it, he will be getting the punt. Simple!
It's obvious the boards goal to get us salary cap compliant as fast as they could meant having a poor side this year.
Let's see which players we sign this year

Way to early to be talking like this.

I think a coach being a bulldog is 'overrated'

Most coaches & looking at the recent premiership winners like Bellamy Bennett Hasler Mcguire Flanagan Robinson Green have played & or coached multiple teams..
