Any word on what we got in return from the Knights?

Someone pls tell me that we didn't just allow the best prop in the game to be released early with 2 years on his contract, without something in return from the knights?

Newcastle have secured the biggest recruit of the 2019 NRL season, signing NSW and Australian prop David Klemmer on a five-year deal.

NRL.com understands the Bulldogs have granted Klemmer an immediate release from the final two years of his deal, allowing the prop to take up a deal with the Knights worth around $4.3 million over the five-year term.

As reported by NRL.com on October 28, Klemmer fronted Bulldogs officials with his wife, Chloe, after returning from international duty, seeking an immediate release from his contract at Canterbury.

While the Dogs wanted to hold on to Klemmer, they didn't want to keep a player who didn't want to be at the club and were trying to secure a replacement before agreeing to release the 24-year-old international. It is believed Roosters prop Dylan Napa will be the man to replace Klemmer.

Klemmer has been disgruntled for some time over the structure of his deal at the Bulldogs, including the arrangement around some third-party payments.

However, the Kangaroos prop has also been dealing with some personal problems and is desperate to start a new life with his wife and three sons away from Sydney and he believes Newcastle is the ideal location for his family.

It is understood his annual Knights salary is close to what he stood to earn in the next two seasons at the Bulldogs.

Klemmer isn't due back to training until mid-December given he represented Australia at the end of the year.

The Bulldogs have had several big-name players leave their club mid-contract in the past 12 months, with Klemmer joining the likes of James Graham, Aaron Woods and Moses Mbye.

Disappointing that the club has made no comment so far and we had to hear it from the NRL app.

So much anger over this. Klemmer has a lot to answer for.

He's an absolute beast, but if I randomly come across him in the street he is going to get an absolute verbal barrage.

So the Knights are paying him the same money as we would have for the next 2 years! That is huge coin considering his contract was back ended heavily!

Hang on, $4.3m over 5 years? That's $860k a year, about the same as he was on with us for the next 2 years and then he could negotiate a better deal for the 3 years after that. Doesn't seem like he's getting paid much more than he would staying with us. He must be getting seriously pussey whipped.

If Mr Passion, heart n' soul Reynolds left for money any one will leave for money.

Let's say it is 860k per year, our current leadership & coach aren't going to pay that much for props any more, even if they are rep standard.

That will free up plenty of cap space now, it's only Tolman & Foran left on overs.

Its Gaaaarbage!! The media spinning shit as usual.. More like 5 mil over 4.3 yrs.
Hmm, who to believe? Random kennel user with a grudge against Klemmer or NRL.com?

You need a source mate.

As much as we all wanted the knights to get ripped off, we're the ones that got fucked over and there's no point in trying to down play this to ease the pain.
