if the selectors are going to blow their load over having an all rounder in the test team hussey sees they choice, he is a batter and although twenty200 is far differnt to test he seem quite capable a spin bowler, by having a spinnning alrounder it means you can play four pace bowlers which covers the lack of quality spinners
so id have my squad for sa tests

jaques [if fit]
katich
ponting
clarke
m hussey
d hussey
haddin
johnson [ close to alroundr anyway]
clark [ if fit]
boulingeer
lee[ if fit]

i feel siddle and clarkare to similar to habe both play together so if clark is out siddle in and have hilfenhouse replace lee if he is unavalble and hughes as jaques backup

It's stupid to pick a specialist all rounder. Better off grooming a player to become an all rounder. That's how it was with Kallis, Shaun Pollock, Wasim Akram. So my pick would be Mitchell Johnson. I reckon he can definately bat up the order at 7. Which frees up an extra bowler.

In the 80's when they had Imran Khan, Botham, Kapil Dev, they just happened to be one of those freaks who'd be world class at bowling and batting from the get go.

There aren't many classical all rounders like that in the world. I can only think of Kallis and Flintoff but even then they are different to the 1980's greats as they are better at one aspect than the other.

So far the only option is Johnson whose shown he can handle it with the bat, and is a top bowler. I'm predicting him to be the next Wasim Akram I rate him that highly.

Johnson is not an allrounder. Sure he can bat a bit, but so can many other in international fast bowlers.

Allrounder = someone who can win the game for you with either bat or ball. The only way Johnson is going to win a game is by holding on for dear life, it was stupid how much the biased aussie commentators talked him up as a potential alrounder, Richie came in and shot them down pretty quick.

Some allrounders playing today that spring to mind - Jacob Oram, Kallis, Ifran Pathan

I quite like the idea of David Hussey, he seems pretty useful with the ball and would free up another fast bowling option.

LOL @ Boulingeer - he is a waste of space, bring in a fit Tait.

TAIT is SHYTE!!!!!!!!!!!! He is only capable of short spells and crumbles when the batsmen get on top a bit! He will never ever play test match cricket again. I think the selectors will go for another bowler but it will be a youngster like Hazelwood. I truly believe that Johnson is an up and coming all rounder and that we can afford to take 4 specialist bowlers into a test. Special K needs to be put back into the test side as well.

Nice arguement there. Why dont you go back to gurgling your boyfriends tadpole milkshake.
LOL you dumb fuk.

Compare pathan and oram a pair of one day toilers to Johnson, who performs consistently at test level in the best team in the world,

then you want to put tait in the test side ahead of bollinger, because he bowled fast in 4 overs in a 20/20 match.

you have NFI.

Everyones allowed to give their opinion you tosser, dont pop a blood vessel over it.

Best side in the world ? That is in some serious doubt there homeboy.

Oram is also a test player (injured a lot of the time), great all rounder, Pathan is in and out of the team but no doubt opens the batting aswell as the bowling sometimes. I was just giving modern day examples.

Go back in your corner little man.

David Hussey should be in the side as a specialist batsman first and foremost. He's not a bowler. He can buy a 20/20 wicket - so what.

No way should Shaun Tait be in the Test side. He's struggling to bowl four overs in 20/20.

Mitchell Johnson is a bowler who can bat at No.8. He's a better batsman than Shane Watson and Andrew McDonald though.

I think we have to look at a four-pronged pace attack since Shane Warne and Stuart MacGill have retired. We were so lucky to have the best ever bowler and as backup had a spinner who's bowling record is equal to Richie Benaud.

This will be a surprise to some. IMO Australia's last bowling/all-rounder or batting/all-rounder in Tests was Paul Reiffel. His batting average was 26 and bowling average was 27.

The oddity was Greg Matthews. Picked as a bowler and averaged 41 with the bat and higher with the ball.

Hussey as an all rounder Please.... He is too old Australia need to take a chance on a few of the younger guys in the academy. If we dont Australian Cricket is on the verge of crumbling IMO.

Whilst Johnson is not an allrounder more a bowler who can hold a bat we dont need to burden him with having another pressure on his game to perform with the bat.

NO WAY to Hussey even getting a mention in our test team and Johnson can not relied upon to be an allrounder. I dont think there are many out there and we cannot keep relying on Shane Watson. IMO should keep toiling for QLD and that is probably all he is capable of.

JAMES HOPES???? Any thoughts.

Taity belongs in limited overs. He bowls a couple of (if any) good fast overs then loses steam.
