We all know we desperately need a specialist hooker..
That surely isn’t debatable by any of us on here..
What is debatable is who we should be enquiring about..
Daryl Clarke has already made it known he wants to test himself in the NRL..
He has speed not unlike Cook, who we all agree, should never have been let go in the first place..
His passing game is crisp and I think his best attributes would be highlighted in the new format of our game..
We need to get Thompson in his ear and do everything we can to entice him to the Dogs.
It is a matter of time as to when he will come to the NRL..why allow another team to benefit from his speed and passing..
I think he needs to be priority number 1 right now..
Get Hill over there to wine and dine him and MAKE IT FUCKING HAPPEN!!
We have
THOMPSON
COTRIC
Possibly LAFAI
If we can jag Clarke,we are well on the road to redemption with a quality half..
Thoughts on Clarke guys
And possibly Ritchie Myler (2018 Leeds Rhinos player of the year) at 7..
With Averillo at 6

Liked Clark for a while especially back in his time at Castleford. However has he actually stayed his desire to come to the NRL ? If there's a source I haven't seen it. As for Myler he's hit and miss, besides Hastings I think the best English 7 is Danny Richardson at Castleford (Holbrook punted him for Fages as he suited their composition more.

HE WANTS A CRACK

Daryl Clark fancies a crack at NRL in the future
AARON BOWER 10/10/2014

2014 Steve Prescott Man of Steel winner Daryl Clark admits that, sometime in the future, he would relish the challenge of tackling the NRL – but says that is a few years away from happening just yet.

Clark, who will head across the Pennines to take up a deal with Warrington Wolves in 2015, cites himself as a “massive” supporter of the Australian top division, saying he watches the game as much as humanly possible.

And the lively hooker will have certainly caught the ear of a few NRL clubs with his quotes about a desire to play there one day, saying he would love to test himself against the very best. However, he urged that any move Down Under is a few years away yet – as he wants to establish himself as a top quality Super League hooker first and foremost.

“I’m a massive fan of the NRL,” Clark said. “I watch pretty much every game. “I’ve got them on series link and I watch them on my days off through the week.

“One day I would like to go there and test myself but I want to establish myself in Super League first. Maybe in a few years’ time.”

Signed until 2023 as far as I recall, can't see it happening.

This is one of our weakest positions, really hope we can find someone decent.

Very interesting option for us, probably the most accomplished player we could get to play hooker, the biggest issue is im not sure if the club is in a position to pay a transfer fee for him considering he is under contract for another 3 years. If we can get him then we have solved 3/5 of our issues. We would still need a quality halfback and prop.

Ok nice long time ago and yeah that was when he was ripping it up for Cas and was rated higher than Hodgson. As I've mentioned before, with Inglis over at the Wire with Widdop and Austin I think he won't leave until they win the title... Stiff competition with Hastings and Wigan imo, but I'll be cheering on the Wolves in hope that he feels he can move onto the next challenge

From the highlights reel he looks a very good and quick running hooker. I hope he has a good passing game also (I don't know). 27 though. He's still got 6 or so good years in him but I'd really like to see us sign a young fella like Grant who can play 10 years with us potentially. I haven't watched enough of him or Grant to know who's better now though. Maybe Clarke is already more dynamic and if so then go with Clarke. If we have to pay a transfer fee that's outside the cap anyway like it was with Thompson (to get him early)

100% Brad..
Stop all the excuses and just make it happen..
If he wants to test himself over here, then come for 2021 and pay whatever transfer fee gets him here..
He will come..to us..maybe,maybe not..
But at least push the issue and give these players we need,a decision to make.
I think he would be a game changer for us and we shouldn’t be put off by a transfer fee
Offer the Wolves someone in return..maybe Montoya or Holland..lol

Appreciate the info on Myler..
I thought of Hastings or Green until it was said that Barrett isn’t exactly on their Xmas card lists..lol
Burton would be ideal, but I think Penrith will be vigilant against a possible poaching..

Going off reports we have roughly 2.35m left.
Could divide well into these three players
-Clarke
-Maloney
-Payne Hass or TP

That should definitely us in the 8 if the Bulldog aura comes back.
