boyd had to play 14 nrl games this season to activate the clause regarding next years contract extension.

he was pretty much told he would be playing qcup after a few rounds into the season, so boyd took it upon himself to try and go out as a nrl player by telling the club instead of qcup he would pull the pin on his career at seasons end

He is retiring at the end of 2020. He only would've had a contract for 2021 if he had played 15 games or more this season. Broncos would've capped him at 14. Now he can play the whole season without getting a new contract.

Oh ok... So he's still going around one more year huh. lol
