That's what I was wondering.

How can you be in the top ten leader board and the only 6, and then not get the award?

Unless Deardon was just outside the top ten and polled more points for the last few games. Burton wouldn't have polled any for the last 2 games.

Deardon didnt deserve 5/8 he was shocked too.

Dearden had a better season not by a lot but just. Would have picked him too. Kiraz or Lomax was a tight call

Zac was brilliant for NSW too. It’s a tight call but not surprised that was the dead set 50/50 call and they went with the player whose form got him picked in SOO

I wish they explained this but they never do. Team selection is NOT based purely on Dally M points. It’s an indicator but not the only thing. Objectively thought Dearden was slightly better Burton had a great year but Dearden will be the Aus 5/8 in a month (Munster is out via injury)
 
That team of the year is a pretty fair team. Kiks probs most unlucky. Brian Too though is not even the best winger at his club!
 
What I can't understand is how bellyache got coach of the year. I know his team is in the big dance but he has done nothing special, he has a good team that plays itself into the top four nearly every year. I thought a coach ths took a team from third last to 5th and almost top four would be more worthy of the award. Such is the inconsistancy of the NRLol.

Storm walked the comp despite missing numerous key players for extended periods and had quite a few bog average players play big minutes throughout the season. Their forward pack is also underwhelming on paper compared to other top sides. Bellamy was the clear winner.

They won the MP and we didn’t even win a final. We had to at least win a final (probably 2 realistically) for CC to beat Bellamy. Bellamy didn’t even have Munster most of the year, loses a glut for Origin and won the MP with 4 rounds to go. Easy decision
