"Melbourne are struggling to retain Finucane within their salary cap. His manager was reportedly seeking a four-year deal at about $800,000 per season, a hefty total package of $3.2 million, before easing demands to three years at a slightly reduced rate."

Finucane goes alright but he will be another James Graham on big coin. He brings leadership and professionalism, etc but we need strike forwards. Maybe he's a good fit for the Tigers and Pangai jnr can come to us.

I predict after a couple of games, people will be complaining that he takes up too much cap space and is a plodder. If we wanted a tackling workhorse, we should have retained Tolman.

4 years at 550-600k I think would be worth it, but anything more than that would be too deer.

Also, I think he would be better playing front row for us, not lock.

I think we have to move on from bulldogs of past, we don’t need them coming back. They have moved on we need to do the same, Lafai was a prime example of this , even though I was his biggest fan and was excited getting him back. Was a failure like most said it would be, so let’s take that advice an continue building something different for this new look era.!!

Our boy lafai would have been better than Hoppa or Allan in the centres this year.

turns 30 in 2 months, 4 years is too long..another jacko situation(and a fairly similar player i might add)after 2 we would be wanting to piss him off?
Agree. The rules will prob change again in 2 years making the game faster again or something and he wont be able to keep up. 4 years is too long. Plus at 34 his body will start letting him down

Side note - Would Finucane have the games best winning percentage right now?

Considering he was with us in "peak" years (2012-2014) - and Melbourne since....

I would imagine he would have a ~60% percentage record.

I read that he plays in a GF every 33 games.

We were shit in 2013 (6th) and 2014 (7th).

Cooper Cronk probably has the best winning percentage

Countless minor premierships

GF appearances Storm 06,07,08,09,12,16,17

Roosters - 18,19

He won triple GFs in 17,18 and 19

The only years he didn't make the Grand final starting from his debut in 2004 was in 2004,2005,2010(Salary Cap) 2011, 2013,2014 and 2015.

What a record.

No way is he worth that kind of money, if he was as great as he thinks he is, he wouldn't still be looking for a contract for next year.
