Has he improved over there at all. Has he been learning his croft?

I'd take any of the blokes you mentioned in a heartbeat my bro, but exactly what you said, no chance landing them.
The most concerning thing is that there is a lack of natural and quality 7's

Gone are the days of Johns, Langer, Thurston, Stuart, Lyons, Mortimer, etc

Todays halves are coached to play certain structures with no natural feel of the game....Looking at the current #7's in the NRL not one of them would be fit enough to clean the boots of the above mentioned players, let along making it in there era's

This era has such a bad crop of players at the top, 10 years ago there were 5+ immortals playing at the same time. Would anyone now even have an argument at being one?

Teddy is probably the closest and he isn’t even close. Cleary is the only half atm that looks like he could reach those levels but after that it’s a massive drop off. Cleary will be able to demand whatever he wants for the next 5-10 years. Probs the first $2m player purely because the lack of 7s. Concerning for the game as a whole tbh

5 plus immortals at the same time? Lewis finished in 92 Johns first grade debut 93, Meninga finished in 94, so who are you talking about?????
as for players of today that could be immortals , Cleary heads the list, Turbo if he ever stays injury free has the ability to be elite, Suuali is untapped, Teddy is close also. But immortals are supposed to be just that, the very special player, their are alot of Hall of famers in this current group of players.

Over the last decade, i reckon there will be 3 immortals - Cameron "grub" Smith, Billy Slater and JT

For the last decade there will be a few Hall of Famers such as Cronk, Minichello, Gallen & Maloney....Out of the current playing crop - Tedesco, Turbo (If he can string a few straight seasons uninjured) and Cleary

Smith, Slater, Inglis, Cronk, Thurston

Although imo only Smith and maybe Thurston are immortals.

Inglis is an immoral. Bashed his wife, drink driving. That’s as close to an immortal as he should be

That's how much Flamingo sucks arse lol an ESL half is better than that dud.
Let's not forget that ESL half was also a young prodigy initially. He's had more time to learn his craft and get more experience without having to carry a NRL side while doing it.

One of the big sticking points for me liking Flanagan (dealing with him being in the side) is that his defence is excellent for a half, best in the comp arguably.

So if you are going to replace him with another half, we need to make sure it's a significant upgrade or someone who will be nuturing long term, otherwise we will just be fucking around for a few more years
That's been my thoughts too, a new half would most likely need greater defensive support from a forward whereas Flanagan has been outstanding in defence and decent in backing up, even if his attack has been very average. We still need someone better long term though.
