Not sure which was the bigger victory for the Aussies, against the Pakistani team, or the Pakistani pitch

Cummins declared too early. He doesn't seem like he's a good captain.
He seems like a good captain. Bowling changes, fields and plans are pretty good…. And the declaration was perfect. Extremely unlikely Pakistan could have chased that, but was just enough to keep them interested. Needs to work on his use of DRS though.

Easy to talk after the match is complete.

Pakistan were 7-443 in the 2nd innings of the 2nd test. Could've easily got 351 if they batted better.

Steve Smith is a better captain.

Pitch was very different to Karachi. A lot more turn out of the rough, more seam movement, some invariable bounce and a lot of reverse swing had been evidenced throughout the match - not just by our bowlers, but also Pakistan’s.

Add to this the fact Pakistan would have had to go at a better run rate than they have throughout the series, on a more difficult wicket. They would have had to bat more time than anyone ever has in the fourth innings at Lahore. They would have had to chase down a total 150 runs higher than the record chase on the ground.

Yeah, there was an outside chance they could have chased it, but it was a very slim chance. That’s the point of a sporting declaration. To leave your opposition with a slim outside chance and back your bowlers to get the job done. That’s exactly what Cummins did. The bowlers did get the job done - with plenty of runs to spare.

As for Smith, you think he wasn’t in on the decision? Cummins isn’t running a dictatorship.

When Khawaja was interviewed after the match, he said Cummins consulted him about the declaration as well. He said he was especially proud of his second innings ton, because conditions had been harder than at any other point throughout the series. He told Cummins he felt like 350 was a safe target. That they may be able to block it out, but wouldn’t be able to chase it down. Khawaja would be a better judge than anyone. Nobody has spent more time than him batting in the match, or series.

Yeah, it’s easy to say in hindsight, but the proof is in the pudding, and the reasoning was sound. Great declaration.

Your cricket knowledge is way better then your rugby league knowledge. By the way what spastic do you support in cricket the way you do in the NRL. Swepson ?

A big Marcus Harris fan. I’m sure if he is given another chance, he’ll make the most of it.

Has to be someone out there who’s a better opener then that bloke. Renshaw?
How long before Warner or Kawaja at 35 are done though?

Pucovski, Henry Hunt, Bryce Street are probably next in line…. Although I’m really not sure Pucovski should be playing at all with his concussion record.

Khawaja looks like he has at least a few more years in him. I think Warner may call time after our next home summer. Finishing against South Africa and laying some demons to rest would probably be a good note to end his career on. Assuming we beat ‘em.
