If hes anything like Gary connolly, we have ourselves a winner.

He has the frame, footwoork, speed and a sprinkle of c**t about him which i like, bit like connolly.
If he plays like Jonathon Davies did for us it will be happy days indeed

Josh Morris was a winger also at St George. Cotric killed it at center as a junior and wether you like it or not he’s an international player at age 21. He’s signed here because of opportunity and money no point going back on our word the minute he walks through the door. If he produces like Remis In the centres sure but I doubt he will.
Cotric has good footwork and changes direction very well which reminds me a bit of Tedesco. I think he'll make a better fullback than anyone we currently got. If we can't recruit a quality specialist fullback I'll be tempted to try him there. 650k for a young spine player on the up is a bargain.

6 Averillo
7 Burton
Both seem like secondary playmakers to me, I think both make better 5/8's next to a traditional halfback type. I know Averillo played some halfback in the juniors but I didn't see much of him there and so can only go off what I've seen in first grade. I think they need a Cleary, DCE, A.Reynolds type of player next to them to succeed. I'd throw big money at Kyle Flanagan for 2022.

Burton is a dominant playmaker. He's more of a halfback than a 5/8th. He was doing all of the kicking and organising when he played with Luai.

How does that compare to other coaches?

You’d want to be paid well to be an NRL coach. Everyone outside of your club wants you to fail and especially the media feed off any form of failure
Pay was on 350 not many coaches on anything near a mil

I agree. There is a fair bit of young 5/8's coming through, and there is a major shortage of young halfbacks. As you said Cleary and Flanagan only ones who have come through

There is also a shortage of top tier halfbacks available.

I don't know who or what to snap up in the 7 (looking into the long term), but hopefully Wakeham develops or try and turn a Averillo/Burton type of 5/8 into a halfback - It has been done with the likes of Keary, Maloney.....

Is Aaron Schoupp any good? If we were to sign another centre (that's long term) it'd block him playing for us. I mean, unless we back flipped on Cotric being a centre.
Agree I know Gildart has played Centre mostly but he's got pace and could be a good winger. I'm fine either way though.

Star centre?

Blokes a winger and the club is experimenting him at centre on massive overs, just like they did with 2 wingers (Brett Morris & DWZ) at fullback

How did that work out?

Cotric doesnt give a shit if he plays in the centres or on the wing, the main thing is that he got the money he was after.
I disagree he's a centre from way back, I think he's well within his rights to want to play there. Will do well as he's got plenty of experience there

I always wondered if Julia Gillard's tits hung as low as her earlobes used to?
I've just lost appetite for dinner after you put that disturbing picture in my mind. You owe me a carton of the good stuff.

fuck sake. We couldn’t have asked for more than we are getting right now after years and years of waiting for shit to change. the only way was up,and the climb is about to commence
I've got a feeling there's a bit of 2009 about the Dogs next year only this time we'll have a better coach and we'll go better than 09.

Does it really matter what we pay the coach if they are a success here ? If he’s a dud we can bitch about it in a couple of seasons :tearsofjoy:
We usually don't wait that long to start bitching about the coach.

100% mate. Its why we needed Wakeham to succeed so badly, even Foran is better suited as 5/8 than half.

Someone like Tom Dearden from the donkeys could be decent however he is still unproven.

I think our best bet is to find a playmaking hooker and then you could roll with two a Averillo/Burton combo in the halves and that would help ease the pressure on them.

i hope you're right, but imo not even close yet. we strengthened our spine back then, until we do similar i can't see the comparison to 2009

If our board had any sense we'll be getting a new hooker and at least one new half and they'll be much better than the crap we have now and they'll be top young players stuck behind some established players at their current clubs wanting a permanent 1st grade spot. CHN leaving may be a blessing in disguise as it means more money to spend on the key positions.
