As most of us already knew, this was so predictable. Media strategy of bullshit drip feeding had started as soon as it broke Roosters were looking at signing him. The only unpredictable thing is which journo will be the one to sprout Nick' s messages about less money, just like Tedesco.

The big question will be how and when will the extra money be paid. Will money be used to top up his Fox sports deal, will Tara receive the extra money or was there already a substantial contribution to their $3.4 million Mosman home purchase the other week. Personally wouldn't surprise me if it was the latter, that way he is paid before he is even on their books.

Can't help but think Cronk had agreed a long time ago that if he would play on, it would only be with the Roosters. By not announcing his future until now all other teams are not in a position to make him an offer, reducing the supposed amount in which he will 'officially' be signed.

Assuming this will go through the NRL, Todd Greenburg and anyone else who is part of the NRL will have no credibility. Stop the charade. If you're serious about a level playing field include TPAs in the cap. Otherwise just drop it altogether as it's a rort, easily manipulated and unable to be effectively policed.

If Sharks or Roosters sign him, it shows the game is a joke.

Releasing Friend will piss off their playing group (more than ours) as he is highly respected at Roosters as a player and captain.

Sharks don't have the cap room, nor do Roosters. It's all paper talk.

...

Dragons might have some cap space.

Imagine if Parra signed him. Norman and Cronk.. lethal combo.

......

On another note, could all this crap about us being over the cap be a charade by our club to make it seem we are over, shed players, and snag Cronk?

Wish it was but when so much talk from different sources suggests one outcome, usually it turns out that way.

Think you could be right about us clearing players and it was also alluded to that our cap situation was not so bad in the RTS thread.

It’s pretty simple how it works

Player gets signed for say 500k

The roosters tell the player to let them invest some of his 500k to make another 100k in shares real estate whatever else through financial advisers

Then they will have accountants to make them pay less tax through deductions

Eg investment properties

It’s pretty smart if you ask me. Name one roosters player who is broke after he plays footy or isn’t in some kind of business :grinning:

Can't remember where I read it, but there was a Rorters player saying they are fantastic at making sure players are set up for life after football.

I reckon you're right about investing on players behalf to get around the cap. That and setting them up to walk into a 6 or 7 figure job upon retirement.

Why else would Gordon hang around when they have Teddy?

Gee, be a real shame if Cronk did an ACL round one...

If he has purchased a house in Mosman then shut the gates, its Roosters or retirement. It makes no sense to travel further south than Alliance stadium to train. Traffic heading anywhere else south if that direction wont work at all for a 7.30 8.00am start.

Or he's signed with Manly :grinning:

Des Hasler traveled from Collaroy to Belmore each day for several years pretending to be a coach.

Many dogs players live in Cronulla/Sutherland shire, and others near Campbelltown.

They bought the place in Mosman as it's close to Tara and his work at Fox Studios it's been reported.

$3.45 million, and honestly the place isn't all that nice (in my opinion). 1915 renovated federation home with no air-con.

Why wouldn't they buy near Bondi if Roosters were plan.

Agreeed. Has to be either Chooks likely or Eagles possibly. You're right about the Shire/Campbelltown live ins for our players.

Or you could do what some Raiders did down here. Buy a house back then which was worth $800k for $300k & the rest paid to the vendor separately. It's funny when you send out the Bank's valuer out to inspect the home to see it is worth more than twice what they paid for it.

Doesn't look like much room to kick the footy in the back yard!

sharks will only sign him if they release maloney while norman is apparently on the outer at parramatta and moses is the better and younger half of the two anyway.

What a man will do for LOVE!!!!!

It just annoys me the way that this has played out. It seems that he NEVER had any intention to retire....and once again the NRL gets its feel good story because of it.

Hate people playing games and he has done it calmly and in a calculated way. All we need now is the Roosters pres release and the farce will be complete.....
He is cooper cronk lets not forget part of the big 3, qlds dynasty, the media darling cooper cronk. The boy nxt door, the guy u cant hate ... they have played cooper the angel and to be honest he has done it well, that said he is still a bellamy product which means u r a dirty player and calculated cheat. Cooper and cameron smith best cheats in the game.
