It appears the NRL doesn’t care about defenders being concussed? Concussion doesn’t discriminate between attackers and defenders. If the NRL are serious about protecting ALL players from head injuries, ball carriers shouldn’t be allowed to contact the head of defenders - why is it within the rules to hit a defender who is required to have a HIA and not be penalised. If defenders are held responsible when ball carriers suddenly drop their head, the same onus should lie with the ball carrier. Surely contacting a defender with their forearm is careless or reckless if not intentional?
