Absolute magic that
You know what? I'm coming close to 50 years of age, and that brings back memories of when I was a kid going to Belmore and having the feeling I was a part of something big.

The connection between a club and its players should never be underestimated as few will ever experience it.

Not only does it create something special on the field, it also creates a desire to be a part of it.

I've watched this video over 20 times already, and each time it brings a tear to my eye as the Dogs of old have been awoken.

Been some very dark days in the last decade but the rusted on fans where all ways here and all ways will be.

They have woken the sleeping giant.

I see it as Ciro’s system. He implemented it at Penrith, now he has implemented it at the dogs and it’s continuing to evolve (unlike Des, stubborn prick doesn’t change). It bugs me when it’s called the Penrith system.
I agree with this but to go a step further it was Gus who got Ciro to the Panthers. Gus saw something in Ciro a long time ago. Gus knew Barrett wasn't a first grade coach despite his fibs to the media and made Ciro his number one target. When so many in here were getting impatient with Ciro in 23 I kept faith in Gus by defending Ciro. I didn't think it would turn around as quickly as it has but I believed we were finally on the right path.
Now I'm not suggesting that it's Gus's system but a lot of credit for the development of Ciro as a coach would have to go to Gus. That saying, steel sharpens steel could also apply to minds. I can only imagine the conversations between Gus and Ciro. The two of them together would be a multiplier and then the staff they pick and then the players they pick.
All adding up to where we are now and where we'll hopefully be in the future. Who knows for how long though so enjoy it while it lasts I guess.

What a crazy 24 months. To take over such a poorly performing team and to get us to the finals in 12 months then at the top of the table within 18 is insane when you think about it. Still very early but hope there is more to come.

I said it in another thread. But if cirro can get us to a couple of premierships he is almost goated as our best ever. Insane results so fast. Coming from Barrett who told Gus I don’t know what else to do when he ran out of ideas. We are blessed to have Cirro leading us and Gus overseeing everything as he sets us up for years of success. Hats off to the board to for getting Gus in too, often overseen but Ayoub and the board went out and perused him so great foresight to know they can’t change it so bring in someone who can.

Yes it's been outstanding work from all those you mentioned.

Sometimes I have to pinch myself to think of how far we've come.

We can go further but even this level of success and turnaround in pride in the players and club has been a revelation.

Agree with all that, Gus knows Ciro. It’s why he didn’t pick up Flannos calls when Flanno was screaming about it in the media. I’m sure Gus is already planning on the next gen plan with coaching

Been some very dark days in the last decade but the rusted on fans where all ways here and all ways will be.
Throughout the darkest days of say 2020-2022 I attended games at Accor with <15k pax. Never any lines for food or drink, easy to get in and out. I remember I posted once here that there was one game I left early and I’d never done that before. I felt guilty but it was just so hard to watch. Well, wasn’t Friday different: dodging punters everywhere: escalators, bathrooms, food outlets and it took 15min to leave at the end with crowd control. But the atmosphere was electric: 65k happy punters is a world away from 15k depressed punters. Even if some fans are a little fair weather the vast majority aren‘t and you can see the genuine excitement in the body language. We’re back!

Definitely. And he actually sees our own Josh Jackson as a potential future NRL Coach, currently learning his craft in Flegg. Time will tell, but a first year Premiership (like Gus coached himself) was a hell of a start.

I get Bellamy is a great coach, but I still don’t understand how Ciraldo didn’t win coach of the year last year with how far he came with the rebuild of this club and to put us in finals contention! Surely he wins it this year

If he doesn't there will be a revolt, NRL HQ will be invaded by a pack of angry Bulldogs.

it's because the NRL love slurping the Storm. Ivan only got coach of the year once out of the last 5 years, and that was in 2020. Ciraldo took a team from bottom of the ladder to finals for the first time in 6-7 yrs without any superstars in the spine and had best defence for much of the season. Bellyache has a 4million dollar spine.
