Like a lot of people on here, I grew up during the golden era of Disney cartoon flicks. Now, I'm sure a few people here would've seen the Beauty & The Beast live action remake earlier this year. Hey... I was one of them. I did it a favor to see it with someone though, not for myself - and many people here probably did the same things, probably with their daughter or niece or girlfriend etc...

Now... another 16 Disney cartoons are set to be remade live. No typo, you read correctly... SIXTEEN:

  • Aladdin
  • The Lion King
  • Dumbo
  • Winnie The Pooh
  • Mulan
  • The Little Mermaid
  • Prince Charming (Cinderella)
  • Cruella (101 Dalmations)
  • Peter Pan
  • Tinker Bell (separate movie to Peter Pan)
  • The Sword in the Stone (King Arthur)
  • Pinocchio
  • Night On Bald Mountain (Fantasia)
  • The Jungle Book 2
  • Maleficent 2 (Sleeping Beauty sequel)
  • Rose Red (get this... Snow White's sister).
Now I know that people say Hollywood has run out of ideas, but this is freaking spastic!

I have only liked 2 movies, Lion King 1 because I am a lion and Aladdin, because I'm a sand nice guy lol

It’s not that Hollywood have run out of ideas bro..it’s that Disney won’t give new ideas or new people a go.. They are just about making money..so they ‘recycle’ previous successful stories..because

1. It’s a not a ‘gamble ‘ as audiences pretty much know what to expect..and

2. They count on nostalgia..in the hope the kids of those days want to relive the joy they had as a kid..or they bring their kids to the movie in the hope they experience the same joy they did..

It’s just a cold calculating effort to make money..not about entertainment.. A disgrace..

I remember they edited the intro song to Aladdin, they got rid of that part where it says "Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face, it's barbaric, but hey, it's home"

Oh yeah..I get what you say Wolfy..but there are a heap of other fairytale stories that can be told..why recycle ones that have been done..and done well?

And as for ‘ain’t broke don’t fix it’..if you think about it Wolfy..taking chances got those original movies to be made in the first place.. Imagine a writer or director pitching the idea that they wanted to make a feature length ‘cartoon’ to be shown at the cinema..I couldn’t imagine many producers would see that being a success..particularly in the early days of movies.. So taking a ‘punt’ on something new can lead to another timeless classic ..:grimacing:

They now get to remake all those stories to a new generation and make even more $$$. With the way things are going the main characters will be tweaked to feature more female and ethnically diverse leads

I know. And I hate it. In Beauty and The Beast for instance, Gastone's sidekick WAS GAY FFS.
