    What are the stats on recruiting rep players? I’m sure roosters are in a league of their own for that. Think they have gotten more the last 5 years then most other clubs in the last 10 years combined.

    They are one club that always seems to get who they want. Dogs on the other hand lose players they signed through stuff ups and then get 25 year olds with no experience or sign plodders to huge contracts.

    Hoping pay, McDonnell and hill get us to another golden period soon. Roosters will be hard to knock off though. Especially with the likes of Hayne, Tedesco, fergo, Cronk, Mitchell etc if it all eventuates.

    Pearce > Manly was mentioned by Ready over a month ago, and stated they were just waiting for Blake Greens Warriors contract to be confirmed.

    So...

    Moylan > Sharks
    Maloney > Panthers
    Pearce > Manly
    Green > Warriors

    I guess that leaves Ata Hingano out of the loop.

    I seem to remember we wanted Justin O'Neill but the storm wouldn't release him to us.

    Uncle Nick says 'hands off', but Knights have cash to splash

    Look for cashed-up Newcastle to blow the opposition out of the water and make Mitchell Pearce rugby league's next million-dollar-a-year player.

    I hear the Knights have a mountain of cash to throw at Pearce - and are willing to do so.

    The $1m is well beyond what rival clubs are willing to pay so the Knights will be out in front if it comes down to dollars.

    Pearce will decide in the next fortnight whether to stay a Rooster or quit the club.

    A $1m-a-season pay cheque may just lure the disheartened No.7 out of Bondi.

    Looks like Pearce just won himself a new top of the line Jag...

    Gift from uncle Nick of course.

    Its only logical he ends up there.. I'm surprised Newie didn't go all out for Graham either or maybe they have their sights on Pearce and Tolman now.

    Ata showed really encouraging signs coming through junior ranks (and junior rep career), but like many Warriors players, it's honestly not the team to debut NRL in.

    Under a better coach I think he'd be a fantastic player. Natural ability is hard to coach and he has it.

    I read an article today that knights are currently $2.5 million under the $9.4m salary cap.
    They will have to be very active in the player market as they are required to be at 95% of the cap by July 2018.

    Don't be too hard on him. He could've still played in the 20s this year. Now he is playing international footy and going OK. It's that type of player we need in our halves coming through as opposed to older blokes like Cleeland and co. He's younger than Lewis and people are suggesting he is going to develop. Why wouldn't Ata?

    Not gonna lie, would be a top signing/swap. Our best halves combo since Anasta and Shifty.

    Considering Newcastle need some players to fill their cap...

    Tolman/Eastwood --> Knights
    Pearce --> Dogs

    Would take that in a heartbeat.. or a doggystyle second.

    They are actually in a very fotunate position.

    If they were smart, front end all their bigger deals (Guera, Ponga, SKD etc), like we did in 2009. So they hit the cap for 2018, and then have a much bigger cap to play with in 2019 onwards, to get bigger players onto their roster.

    I'm sure they will eventually do that, but they will probably hold off on it until mid season incase some players become available between now and then.

    No club is going to be stupid enough to take Eastwood or Tolman on the money we're paying. Newcastle have already made it clear they won't make desperation signings, they could have done that years ago but have hung in to get better players. We're stuck with them until their time is up with us.

    Phil Rothfield spoke about that on NRL360 last night.
    Ikin said that the Knights could front end deals if they didn't fill their cap. Andrew Webster said that they should throw everything including the kitchen sink at Pearce to entice him.

    After that discussion, Rothfield then mentioned how Newcastle offered Matt Lodge $1.5million over 3yrs but Lodge decided to sign with the Broncos for $85K per season and there was something not right about that. Lol, Roosters accountant working for the Broncos this week!

    They both have the same paper bag system. But how on earth would he be worth anywhere close to 1.5m over 3 years. Also, thought minimum wage was around the $110-$130k mark?
