Both a credit to Burton for his effort today. Playing to his strength... But also to Ciraldo... He is constantly allowing our players to play to their strength and quickly changed the game plan after rnd 1.

I think we will see the team evolve over the next 6 weeks into one that is going to compete every game and finally rebuild that winning culture.

Once TPJ and Thompson come back, with the addition of Xerri and Crighton for 2024 (I don't think we need Crighton to be fair...), Olapau and Papallii coming through... Looking good.

Thought he had a terrible attitude, took the extended deal and then was going to be a frustrating, inconsistent plodder who kicks missiles into orbit sometimes.

Got to remember he is only 23, a baby from sleepy Dubbo. So much potential still to unlock.

The thing about Burton is that no matter what we all say about him here on TK, opposing defending teams get spooked and panic when he gets the ball and starts to run. Their coaches have drummed into them all week how much a threat Burton is. The perceived threat of Burton often exceeds the actual threat and that is what Bulldogs need to take advantage of more often - get the ball in his hands as often as possible with him in motion, even if 9/10 he ends up passing it to someone else.

Nasheed here,
He has a running game fo sho, it’s his ball playing that has the question mark.
That is why everyone is calling for him to go to centres so he can just focus on it and not worry about organising and Russia.
Yep, same question mark is still there tbh. Great running ability with the ball but he doesn't have an iota of ball playing ability 'yet'.

Went a fair way today to show he can play 5/8th and be a great player for us going forward, Future immortal? Yeah not so much. He will get better once we get a halfback and he can focus on his running game.

So he HAS been carrying an injury/strain.

Was good to finally see the first Burton skyscreamer get launched today though. Been a long time coming for one of his big bombs.

Also Flanagan is a better goalkicker than Burton. So it works out well for everyone.

I was thinking the same, both with the change in goalkicker and the late of truly monstrous kicks.

I also thought he looked for the first time this year like the ball runner we wanted. Was hitting the line hard and with confidence

@cookieman909 @rand0m3r Ciro mentioned in the presser that Burto had a minor groin strain earlier in the week and although he passed his fitness test on Friday night they didn’t want to risk making it worse by goal kicking and hence Flange. That said, Flange converted well, nice to see him earning his keep that way.

he looks more confident as a goal-kicker, should just let him keep that role and spread responsibilities.
