Opinion Burton should be sacked from being our goalkicker

Great analysis- did you ask Chook who his preference was for our kicker- Sexton, Critta?

I went to the game last night and his misses were frustrating (even though it made no difference to the result)

In all honesty... He said Hayward. Reckons Hayward is the most technically talented gifted kid we have.

I think we saw Hayward kick a few weeks ago... Pretty sure he missed but i wouldnt write the kid off.

In regards to Burto, its just frustrating because some nights he is so on and others he is so off. Brilliant foot... Just needs to sort his shit out.

Good tip
Perhaps once he cements himself into NRL, they’ll make the change.

We need more consistency if we are serious about finals this year and the seasons ahead

Does anyone have the stats? I'm sure he'd be close to the worst goal kicker in the comp

Burton kicks as if he is toe bashing it (he obviously is not) because the aim is either on point or completely no. He shoots them arrow straight each time, but often slightly in the wrong direction. What a waste of a big boot. For me his technique needs tweaking and he needs more practice. the fact we lose an ever age of 3 goals a match we should get is a no no for how competitive the comp is. CC and Burto should be doing better with that part of our game.

it's a bad technique.. there's a reason no other kickers use it.. It is absolutely going to lose us more games in future so I'm not sure why Ciraldo isn't trying out another option.

Yeah I fully agree, we need a better goal kicker or a mix of kickers depending on the side the kick is taken from and conditions.

Going up in 6s when we can especially with how tight games can be is a big issue now, chasing 8-10 points rather than say 4-6 definitely puts the pressure on a team

I once coached a team in under 16’s where we had a left foot kicker in our side.

It became obvious fairly early in the season that we would play in the GF and who our opponents would be.

The left footer did not kick against that team until it became necessary in the Grand Final. The right foot kicker kicked against them in the three previous games that season.

We were leading the GF by 8 points to 2 with about 3 minutes to go. We got a penalty 10 metres in from the right hand touch line and inside their 20.

The leftie stepped up to the plate and nailed the 2 points to put us out of reach.

Their coach was very grumpy that they did not know we had that ace up our sleeve. They were like the Roosters and gave away a lot of penalties to slow our momentum.

Older members of TK would also remember Mike Eden who played for Manly and the Roosters in the 70’s and 80’s.

He kicked goals with both feet. Ambipedestrous I think that is called.
Ambipedestrous is correct.

Don't we have one of the two legends coaching our kickers? Hazem or Halligan?

Burton is way below his best from last year.

2023 - 60/71 - 84.5%

2024
- 36/53 - 67.92%

Overall - 76%

Sexton kicks dosent he ? dont know what his percentages are thou.

It also happens our squad mentally as well. 20-12 vs 20-8 is a huge psychological difference. Same thing with the Storm game, if we were up 18-10 or 16-10 the entire complexion of the game changes as opposed to 14-10.

Burton is ultimately a major confidence player and against the Roosters he was a bit shot on confidence there as was the rest of the team. With experience it'll be different but that is what seperates us from the Top 4 teams at the moment.

Another area that needs improving and adjustments made by CC. We aren't a team that can have a low % successful kicker.
Wonder who his mind coach is, noticed Sexton saying he has one. Halligan, El magic ? He kicking like a busted custard atm.
