I remember when he was with us then went over to Super League and how sad I was, he came back and that was awesome! Beastwood for me has been a great servant for us and I hope he just does what is best for him. If it's getting a payday and retiring than great, if it's giving one more season than I hope he has it in him. I haven't judged too many from the last few years as I knew it was the coach. IF his health will be good I think he could go for one more good round. He has earnt his choice and I hope his health improves. We need to stop the negativity towards our players and how we treat them from a club stand point and get back to a place where our word means something to players again. I think our team can gel if we let them believe in eachother and the coach.

I disagree. He is on 800k next year, so thats 800k out of our cap. Regardless of whether its backended, thats what he is costing us.
Does that include his "education costs" of $400K at Harvard?

A teriffic servant of the club-people please do not forget he has been great for us and please note the last two years injuries have hamperee him and possiblly playing style-i guess good excuse to dump him-sad story of true
It should also be noted that he went to Leeds, didn't work out & paid $120k transfer fee to return to the Dogs. Doesn't that say something about how he feels about the club.

I disagree. A servant to the club is someone that trains the house down and keeps their body in tip top shape to perform at their optimal level. Eastwood hasn't done that since 2012.

There is more to being a good club man than your success on the field. Eastwood was devastating as a ball runner until frankie left in 2015. He took on a mentoring role for the poly kids and has prob had a hand in us having kids like RFM stick with us. I agree his form has been poor over the past couple of seasons but a few serious injuries and the loss of Frankie and Krisnan I think played a role in that. Hopefully he comes back like the old Beastwood. I'm prepared to cut him some slack for the first part of the season if he doesn't fire though then I'm with you.

Again, I disagree. He should be setting a good example and unfortunately he didn't. Forget the old days, he will never be on that level again. He's garbage and a waste of cap space.

I truly wish Eastwood a full recovery and great health,
But lets be honest he's had 1 or 2 good seasons with us, and the rest he has been a passenger he is injuries prone.
If he is eligible to medically retire it would be good for him and the club

Exactly. At the end of the day he even took unders to come back too. So he deserves his pay day. Wasn’t he on something like 150 or 200k this season and then 800k next. Our club fucked up with signing off on these idiot contracts.

But the bloke deserves his pay day. If he can get his body right will be valuable off the bench. If not either medically retire him or let him run around reggies.

Funny how weight got worse under hasler.... not to start bagging anyone but under him we were the most unfit I can remember the club. Even tolman used to look fried after 10-15 mins. Good to see pay at the sand dunes. Get some km in the boys legs instead of locking them in a science lab. Footy is played on the field and not in a lab. You learn more on field then in video sessions too. Something Hasler never understood.

Eastwood when he's on, is a great player capable of breaking the line straight up the middle, and getting an offload away. With an Mbye, Lichaa, or fast player in tow, that's points.

But the last few years he's been disappointing and I'm sure he knows that.

As to if it's been fitness due to the heart issue who knows..

I'd love to see him back to Beastwood again, and in the #13 jersey with Elliott/Talau/Fualalo swapping in off the bench.

As I have said before.....I think his body and heart were fucked for 2 years already, should have beed forced to retire 12 months ago at least. The Guy has been collecting money under false pretences for the last couple of years TBH

Eastwood has been useless for years, he's so fucking lazy. If the bloke pulls off a miracle and some how performs, he will basically be like a new signing. I think at best you would play him off the bench and rotate at prop. Give him him 10-15 minute spell either side of halftime and just tell him to run and tackle until he drops. Leaving him out there for extended minutes will just see him bludge.

Greg Eastwood has returned to training with Canterbury after specialists cleared him to resume light duties following his heart scare.

Eastwood underwent surgery to treat an irregular heartbeat, raising questions about his future in the game. However, the operation was deemed a success and he returned for light duties with his Canterbury teammates on Wednesday after passing a heart stress test.

"I'm just glad to be back part of the team," Eastwood said.

"They looked at all the results I had from the tests I did. They were happy for me to get back into it. I'm not 100 per cent yet, I'm still not allowed to drive, so the missus isn't happy.

"After Christmas I have to go back and see them and do another stress test. If all goes well I can resume full training."

Eastwood joined fellow NRL identities including Frank Pritchard, Reni Maitua, Mahe Fonua and Ben Murdoch-Masila to distribute toys at the Children's hospital at Randwick as part of an initiative from Crown Sports International and Lantrak.

Eastwood, who has no history of heart problems, suffered his first episode while driving to training with teammate Danny Fualalo. The former Kiwi international said it had been a stressful time for his family.

"When it's your heart, having five kids and a wife, you don't want anything to happen," he said. "You don't want to risk it just for a rugby league career. If nothing works and the heart keeps playing up, I'll have to retire. Fortunately, that hasn't happened.

"I'm just happy to be back and part of the team. Hopefully all goes well and I can kick on.

"If I'm going to have any more episodes or I'm going to faint, I've been told to stop and alert the trainers.

"Nothing has happened yet. If I go back in Jan, nothing has happened and I see the doc, he will hopefully give me the all clear to go back to the team. Fingers crossed that happens."

The mole will report this in his next exclusive....

We'll see. All the best to him either way. Of he does retire. Do we buy someone else?

With clay Priest we don't need to. I would buy a 150k player ti make up the numbers and front end other contracts....

maybe Graham will come back??? Hahaha
