OFFICIAL | PRE-GAME Bulldogs vs Dragons @ jubilee stadium - 8th March 5.30pm

I don't get all the fear of the merge?

They don't seem strong, Gutho is older and slower after a poor year at Parra, Cook the same for Souths. Add in Flannibal Lector and Silly-Ass and their spine is scarily poor.
I think the inclusion of Cook and Gutho have given the Dragons added leadership and improved their culture in several ways being naturally competitive individuals and hard trainers. I still think we will overcome them with a win but they’re built a little differently this year.

Losing Kiraz is a big loss ahead of the game, but I hope we get Warriors Montoya and not Original Bulldogs Montoya for this game. When he goes beast mode, he’s actually alright.

The future, however, is clearly Sua and Rinakama - these guys will be a handful and aerial targets when fully developed physically.
Don't rule out Jordi Mazzone. Injury & his Mum passing set him back last year.

For the most part he's okay, but if he drops one he usually drops another. He can't tackle to save his life though :tearsofjoy:
Surely they have worked on CT's defence over the off season? His positioning looks OK (only seeing him on the tele not in real life), but when he gets his hands on the ball carrier he just can't seem to make the tackle.

Wish Critta would play left so he could fill the void left by Burton with his deft little kicking game. I know Cerri can't play right or whatever but Chricton has a few more spades to pull out on the left

Agree ......

I am high on Sua and i think Rinakama may be even better ..... his yardage carries for an 18-year-old are fantastic. Built like a young Loti Tequiri.

Both have always gotten across the stripe as well.

Jethro has come from the clouds tbh. I knew the name but not his game. Didn’t think he’d be that close to a debut, but thought he played as well as Sua in trials, probably slightly better really. Good to have options, albeit them being raw.

I like the kid, Fox-like speed. Good luck to the young lad

Man I hope he develops because he has that one thing that as Gus says, you can’t teach speed. He is lightning quick. Wouldn’t be surprised if he beat our next fastest player by 5m or more in a sprint.

I saw a clip of him in Cup running past Faalogo very easily, Faalogo was made to look slow… I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s as quick as the fox, maybe even quicker

Here on TK trials are viewed as grand finals!
Dragons will
Improve for the exact reasons we did last year. They purchased seasoned veterans with a strong work ethic and an experienced premiership winning coach. They will grind out wins just like we will. Can’t really see the difference between the two clubs tbh

Addressing the FB situation and I’d like to preface this by saying I’m a big Connor Tracey fan, but those school boy drops in the trial have carried over from 2024 (the one that hurt us was the Manly try in the qualifying final). The other aspect of his play I want to see better improvement on is his defensive work as too often his last line of defence has let us down to the point where I just concede a try before they score it ….again the lead up to manly match winning try was not his fault but if he makes the tackle on Koula we get the ball back and most probably win the game.

Taffe isn’t the long term answer but he doesn’t make me hold my breath when the ball goes up to him, he no world beater but playing 80mins in a GF is probably underrated on here ….

I am hopeful Connor can fix his errors in his game and have a great season but if we are 4 weeks in and he’s still making the same mistakes we will need to put him on the wing.
would rather taafe as a fb since hes improved a lot in the span of a week, our dynamic shifted once he came on as he set up a try off the scrum, he seems to look more comfortable now considering his blunder of a game against the tigers the previous week, wouldn't mind Tracey moving back to the wing if he doesn't fix those errors at fb.

Xerri played basically every game he played with Sharks at right centre. He can play right side.

Problem is if he plays on the right he's a left arm carry of the ball and palms off with his right arm if he plays on the right side it's not natural to him. Whilst at the sharks he did play right side centre sometimes it wasn't natural. Also negates his left foot step inside if he moves to the right side. Where let's face it critta can play any position and make it look easy.
