Dogs ready to abandon Sydney to get back to top! Article from SMH
Sydney’s second COVID-19 wave could lead to the success-starved Bulldogs leaving Sydney to prepare for the 2022 season. Canterbury have recruited strongly for next year in a bid to climb off the bottom of the ladder as they close in on their first wooden spoon since 2008. And they don’t want COVID to get in their way as they take steps towards being a force again.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian flagged on Friday that the Canterbury-Bankstown area was of particular concern as COVID cases increase, and the Bulldogs, under the leadership of new general manager and club legend Phil Gould, are planning for the worst.
“We are already formulating contingency plans for our pre-Christmas training schedules,” Gould said.
“If we have to move, we will.”
“Camp locations in regional NSW and Queensland have to be considered if the COVID transmissions are not brought under control here in Sydney.”
