News Bulldogs fighting to keep young stars

The Bulldogs have their work cut out retaining a couple of exciting brothers who are set for huge seasons in the lower grades.

Compton and Iverson Fuatimau, aged 17 and 19 respectively, are already being inundated with offers for 2021.

Both are off contract and players with big futures.

Compton is a centre/winger in the Bulldogs' SG Ball side, while Iverson is a second-rower expected to play in the Canterbury Cup this season.

Hopefully we lock them up long term there both 1st graders in the making hopefully they stay

We shouldn’t have trouble retaining any player in the lower grades. If we do it’s slight on the admin but we have been doing well locking up the juniors lately so I expect them to do the same here. There’s no point being a “development club” if you don’t keep the players you develop.

I hope our appalling use of development contracts don't bite us on the ass and end up costing us a player.

Haha. I'll provide context. Allen Iverson was a long time NBA superstar who had a cult following and he had the bad boy mentality where he did things on his terms and didn't care who got offended.

He had an infamous quote one time where someone questioned him about his lazy training habits and he came out with that rant in a press conference..

Went back to QLD to play in QLD Cup. He showed some promise and I'm not sure why he went home.

The lower grades appear stacked and we aren’t able to keep everybody if you have that many coming through... hopefully we get some results in first grade cause the only deterrent really at the moment for a young kid in our squad is that the club hasn’t been that successful of late.. just my 2 cents...

We have a good list of potential stars coming through. Jake Averillo for me our next good/great half. Paul Alamoto our dynamic center. We will just need a gun hooker to guide around the park and we’ll be a force in the coming years

More so talking about who we let go in first grade along with jumping the gun and rushing re signings / extensions like Lewis and Smith when we could have easily waited

They are both big boys who run hard.I’m pretty sure they are from Melbourne. They are decent players but it’s kind of weird seeing a article like this about them it’s not like that are absolutely dominating lower grades.
