How old is he. Methuselah old or a tad younger.I'm hearing Phil is looking to bringing in a old school coach and a Assistant who will take over when the time is right, I haven't heard any names, Obviously the Penrith Assistant will be looking for a job soon as Cleary is there forever, but his not ready for this squad yet ?
Sorry Davey but this post says fuck all.I'm hearing Phil is looking to bringing in a old school coach and a Assistant who will take over when the time is right, I haven't heard any names, Obviously the Penrith Assistant will be looking for a job soon as Cleary is there forever, but his not ready for this squad yet ?

Read between the lines. It means Davey is getting the attention he craves.Sorry Davey but this post says fuck all.
Improve what results? We are the bottom of the ladder.I agree bro. Sacking Baz mid season will appease lots of fans but not sure it improves results
Averillo at 1 or 6????I don't know for sure, but I got a feeling Baz did that as a little clip to Averillo for answering the question at the mid week presser about his preferred playing position.
The kid answered honestly by saying Fullback or 6 - when maybe they expected a team first vanilla answer of "Anywhere to help the team".
He shouldn't have been punished just for his immaturity though.
The weeding out will start...Bulldogs general manager of football Phil Gould has been very public in his backing of Trent Barrett but has a new challenge on his hands with the brittle Canterbury board splintering when it comes to the coach.
It was always going to be tough for the loser of the wooden spoon clash at Magic Round on Friday night against the Knights; Bulldogs fans have turned on the club, and the board listens to what their fans are saying.
The club is sitting at the bottom of the table and is showing nothing in attack, an area of the game where Barrett is supposed to excel.
Barrett has barely won a game in his time at the Bulldogs, and no club or board can tolerate that. His record makes for dismal reading: three wins from 24 starts last year and two from 10 this campaign for just five victories in 34 games in all (15 per cent).
Gould will continue to support Barrett and won’t sack him.
The loss to Newcastle has rattled the coach, and the season is already taking its toll on him.
What’s worse for the coach is that he has overseen the majority of the recruits who are at the club.
I’ve asked Gould on numerous occasions about the Barrett strategy and he has backed him strongly. However, Dean Paywas shown the door with a far better record (19 wins from 57 starts), and this board doesn’t appear to be on the same page as the coach.
Embattled Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett.
There are obvious contenders to replace Barrett, but it’s going to take whoever is in charge at least another 18 months of pain before the Bulldogs will see the light.
Big-name recruits Viliame Kikau and Reed Mahoney will arrive next year and Kikau has a strong connection with Barrett from their time at the Panthers. The club could also bring in fresh support for Barrett, but he already has the best coaching mind in the game at the club in Gould. While “Gus” has no desire to coach, that may be the best solution in terms of support for the coach.
Bulldogs directors losing patience with struggling Barrett
Trent Barrett has barely won a game as Bulldogs coach, and no club or board can tolerate that.www.smh.com.au
One thing I'm sure about is that this current board is very very united,The 'brittle Canterbury board'. I think it is more to do with Baz record and inability to improve the team than some mysterious factional bullshit in Weidler's head.
The roster has some serious holes in it no doubt about that. But the roster is way better than what they are putting out on the field.Sacking him is easy but then what next? Roster is still shit.
>"We played better when the halves were getting more ball against roosters when JJ was off with covid"The whole coaching staff needs to go! The players are no where near as fit as they should be, skill level is below average! As the other teams are starting to hit peak fitness we are still way off! We can't keep up the pace for 80 mins and mistakes and ill discipline get worse as the game goes on! We are trying to play like Panthers and we don't have the skill! We played better when the halves were getting more ball against roosters when JJ was off with covid!
Having seen how some people think without them actually saying anything, I'd bet that daddy will be upset if his beloved son is cut.Ummm...when Flanagan is off contract at the end of 2023 he gets pissed off....surely it will not just come down to senior Flanagan if he was our coach next year whether his son earn another contreact
>" We simply need a coach that is multi dimensional. When something doesn’t work. You cannot keep doing the same thing. We need someone who can sit back, take friendships and pre conceived ideas on any player out of their minds and change things up."The roster has some serious holes in it no doubt about that. But the roster is way better than what they are putting out on the field.
The number one change that needs to be made is the immediate sacking of the fitness coach. With someone capable of immediately setting a program of an off-season fitness training. That still works in with in-season training.
Although our attack is pedestrian at best. (This part is a roster problem) With the 9 & 7.
The selections are also a huge issue with how we play. Playing Jackson at 13 is absolutely killing our attack. Playing TPJ on an edge turns him from a star middle forward into a mistake riddled and ill discipline liability.
The 9 should be sorted for next year. The 7 needs to be addressed. But the roster for a coach with half a clue would be doing a better job.
We simply need a coach that is multi dimensional. When something doesn’t work. You cannot keep doing the same thing. We need someone who can sit back, take friendships and pre conceived ideas on any player out of their minds and change things up.
Barrett has had more than enough time to show that he is clueless as a head coach. He doesn’t have any clue what areas require addressing.
While there are a few decent people reporting on the game, Weidler and most of the others will blame our club for Barrett's failure, and say nothing about his failure at Manly. That article was just some dumb opinion piece. Weidler just thinks we are sacking him because of previous records and events that have happened to previous coaches, not any suggestions of actual movement or anger currently between Baz and the board. Great journalism contradicting shit.
