One of the things we don’t have is a strong fiery captain who will challenge the referee and remind him of the lopsided penalty count and set restarts. Jacko lets the refs get away with everything. Cam smith was the best at challenging the refs. It may not get any decisions overturned but it gets the attention of the camera and commentators and reminds the on field official that we have noticed and he needs to fucking stop it.
Last time Jacko did that, the ref waved him away then called time on before he got back in the defensive line, leading to a try

At the very least, Jackson should be in the refs ear after we conceded tries asking how they hadn't committed one penalty or six again in 65 minutes..

He's never been vocal enough with teammates or refs as a captain as far as I'm concerned. That's not to say it's his fault at all, but I'm sure if someone like Ennis was captain, he would have put the ref under the microscope to address it earlier.

Referees are human - although some may debate that - and are always going to be influenced by the screaming of home crowds.

But when an away team doesn't get a penalty in the full 80 minutes - as happened to the poor Bulldogs against the Knights last weekend - questions have to be asked.

And that is exactly what Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett is doing. He has found at least six instances where his team could have been awarded penalties by Ben Cummins in the loss to the Knights, yet the whistle was never blown.

He is considering taking his complaints, with video evidence, to the NRL - and I'll be interested to see the response if he does.

One thing you can put money on - the Bulldogs will win the penalty count next weekend. It's how rugby league has worked for many years.
“Bulldogs will win the penalty count next weekend” I guess this is where the penalty count is in favour of Penrith for 75mins and the ref blows 5 penalties in the final 5 mins to highlight the point we won the penalty count

Actually that was when we played souths, Cummins called out Jackson, didn't wait for him to get back, Inglis scored where Jackson would have been and then Cummins apologised to Jackson because he knew he "fucked up" by not allowing Jackson to get back.

How about the six again. That was ruled against while the Knights player was standing in a tackle looking to offload

Accountability for having a lopsided officiating is what we ask. It's clear Cummins only saw things one way last Friday, yet he gets PROMOTED to do this Saturdays 730 Cowboys first home game. Where's the accountability for costing the Dogs any chance to win the last game?
This is the major problem with rugby league. The 6 agains are completely subjective....where and when they are blown determines games. As Deano used to say....we had 17 guys who busted their ass last Friday, but due to the unfair officiating were given no chance to win the game. If the NRL can't see this then they are kidding that the game is in "good shape"

Hoppa did push him in the back. It was stupid play by him. But yeah, the others I totally agree. And your right, Jackson very rarely challenges things. Not that it would make any difference anyway though.
We were our own worst enemies, but there were so many things that also went against us!!
Jackson doesn’t have presence as a “captain”

And the ref that day was CUMMINS in a Goof Friday game against Souths. Jackson was playing in the centres because our fullback went off injured. I think Mbye. Hopa went back to fullback. After the try JJ went over to Cummins who apologised and said he didn't realise Josh was playing in the centres.

Interesting that Cust is on the bench this week & Harper throwing the toys out of the cot again. If Harper is not careful, he will get a reputation.
He will be dubbed a Matterson lol

Worked for your chooks when they complained about Cummins... Didn't ref your games as much and then when it got to 2019 GF he reversed the 6 again lol. A complaint years in the making
I feel like it wouldbe a worse outcome if they ditch Cummins and gave us Sutton nearly all season. Would be a great result if we avoided both of them.

If you're talking 2013 Robbo blew up at Cummins in the tunnel for the way he spoke/dismissed our captains and it cost him 40K and yeah Nick was more than happy to pay it out of his ashtray change. We had years of being on the wrong side of penalty counts with that prick after that.
Teams should unite to present a dossier of all corrupt and bias decisions against them by this ref.

Black and white proof laid at Vlad's feet lol

Barry Barnes, there's a blast from the past, mostly reff'd our games from 1982 to 1987 (25 games), which was a pretty good time to be Bulldogs fan. Ted Glossop (1982) then Warren Ryan were the coaches and Chris Anderson (1982) and then Steve Mortimer were the Captains, 2 premierships, runner up and 4 years in a row in the finals.

Go Dogs
No wonder we made the refs figures pretty decent lol

For sure. Sutton is a lot sneakier so harder to point the finger at him....still the same cheating outcome for the Bulldogs tho.

So much for checking before the commencement of play and following the rule book.

In the second half we get our restart calls in bunches with a he game all but decided at that point.

The interesting thing is on one of our restarts (we only got 3) we make good gain and finish with Flanno attacking kick which Elliott chases and challenges and the Knights winger clearly knocks on but Cummins calls it knock on us??

The other restart call /end of that set we go shortside and Flanno grubbers for a repeat set yet Knights get the penalty for a supposed ‘shove’ by Hoppa

Another one when Frizzel coughs it up trying to play it quick yet Hethrington is pinged for interference - penalty Knights

Pearce milking - penalty Knights
Pearce runs in late to third man in tackle Elliott after the ref yells held - play on

All these little things add up (and the above were just 3 examples in the second half alone)
Either the Knights are so perfect or we are just the unlucky.......

Yet the skipper never challenges it or at bare minimum asks the question
The quicker we have AI refereeing the better.

I was thinking exactly that yesterday, but they will never allow it if they can't control, manipulate or overrule it.
Itll happen at some point, the first steps will be well away from the field though. Think traditional with AI assistance etc. NFL and Euro soccer clubs are already invested in it in a range of disciplines
