The Canterbury Cup NSW competition is rapidly approaching and True Blue and Channel Nine commentator Jamie Soward have cast his eye over all 12 teams for nswrl.com.au to find the winner for 2019.

Despite claiming last year's premiership with an 18-12 victory over the Newtown Jets and a memorable win over the Redcliffe Dolphins in the National State Championship, Soward has predicted a huge fall from grace for the Bulldogs having predicted them to finish 10th in 2019.

They boasted one of the most powerful forward packs in the competition but may struggle to maintain their dominance with Rhyse Martin, Ofahiki Ogden and Renouf To'Omaga expected to find themselves in the top squad throughout the year.

Soward questioned their depth following the departures of Greg Eastwood, Zac Woolford, and Josh Cleeland and believes the inconsistency amongst the playing squad may prove costly to their finals chances.

"I think they're the big sliders in 2019 – their depth will be tested with a lot of their guys making their NRL debuts last year and also being promoted to the NRL squad," Soward told NSWRL.com.au.

"I got them finishing 10th on the back of some key losses such as Zac Woolford, and Lachlan Lewis."

I'd go further... Sowards a single sperm from a homeless mans load drying in the summer sun on the side of a dumpster bin in a dirty, mouldy CBD laneway.

That's how insignificant he is.
that's what I meant to say

Remember this article from Hardaker..

Former Penrith Panthers player Zak Hardaker hits back at Jamie Soward over Super League claims

JAMIE Soward has clearly ruffled some feathers with his uncomplimentary view of the Super League, copping an almighty serve from former Man of Steel Zak Hardaker.

Soward played just 16 Super League games across two short and relatively unsuccessful stints at the London Broncos — the second as a mid-season signing this year after parting ways with the Panthers.

So he understandably ruffled some feathers last month when he said on Triple M’s The Rush Hour that the Super League is “10 years behind the NRL”.

Soward has since defended that comment, saying it was plucked from a much longer conversation about England’s place in the rugby league pecking order and what needs to happen for Wayne Bennett’s Test side to win next year’s Rugby League World Cup.

Having spent about an hour on the radio program as a guest, Soward felt the one line that emerged as news had been taken out of context.

That argument apparently doesn’t wash with Hardaker, who was signed by Penrith on a loan deal at the same time as Soward left for the Super League this year, contributing mainly off the bench in his 11 appearances for one try.

The 25-year-old fullback has played over 150 games for the Rhinos and said Soward’s comments “should be taken with a grain of salt” as he did some mud slinging of his own.

“If it came from someone like Cooper Cronk then you could understand, but when Jamie Soward came over I thought he was rubbish,” Hardaker told English publication Love Rugby League.

“You can’t really listen to a guy who came over, played for London, was probably one of their worst players.

“No one wanted him at the Panthers, then he goes to play Championship.

You can’t really listen to someone who’s been rubbish in Super League. So I would take his comments [with a grain of salt].”

Hardaker’s barb that “no one wanted” Soward at a club he had led to within one game of a grand final in 2014 will particularly sting the playmaker who last week admitted to Fox Sports News that he was open to resuming his NRL career at his former club St George Illawarra.

The Dragons have been hit hard in the playmaking ranks, with Benji Marshall parting ways with the club at the end of the 2016 season and first choice replacement Drew Hutchison rupturing his ACL in training last week.

It leaves coach Paul McGregor with limited options to wear the No.7 jersey with Josh McCrone and Kurt Mann vying with journeyman Shaun Nona and promising teenager Jai Field after Dragons Director of Rugby League Pathways Ian Millward ruled out a play for clubless ex-stars Chris Sandow and Todd Carney.

We have lost some depth but I think we will still do okay. The Milkman needs to go and do what he does best....

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2009-05-16/bulldogs-no-try-call-wrong-refs-boss/1684910

"Jamie Soward conned the video referee, he backed into Greg Eastwood, he made no attempt to go towards Luke Patten to make a tackle.

"He made a bigger attempt to get to the referee at the end of the field to complain.

Milkman Soward keeps delivering
The Sunday Telegraph
June 14, 2009 12:00am
LIVEWIRE St George Illawarra five-eighth Jamie Soward has been dubbed the "milkman" by rival players because he keeps conning penalties out of referees.
Soward is certain to cop plenty of lip from North Queensland players at WIN Stadium today after he copped a sledging barrage against the Gold Coast Titans last Monday.

The "milkman'' tag started after the Dragons' controversial victory over the Bulldogs, when Soward was at the centre of the Greg Eastwood obstruction penalty that saw video referee Steve Clark sacked.

But last Monday Titans captain Scott Prince labelled Soward a "diver'' and repeatedly branded him "the milkman'' when he was down hurt after a high tackle from Esi Tonga. The spray from Prince was so fierce that Dragons winger Wendell Sailor felt compelled to intervene.

So far it looks like Soward’s assessment of this team was spot on.
In fairness the teams been badly impacted by changes to first grade and injuries.

Add in a clueless coach and you have the current predicament.

We get Tui Katoa back on the wing this week, as well as finally start a game with one of our intended NSW Cup halves (the other being Cogger).

Soward easily has the punchable face on and off the field.
