I don't believe it, paying 700k to get a player of the books and leaving yourself with 275k to replace him.

They will use most of the money to upgrade contracts and keep their youngsters.

Milford at 400k for a year would be a steal.
Yuck. I wouldnt take him for $300k.
Although Bird has rarely played for the Broncos, he is more likely to win you a game.
Milford plays regularly and is likely to cost you a game.
IF you have a look at the highlights from any Broncos game in the last 2 years, have a look how many tries are scored where Milford is defending.
He is regularly shown with poor reads and on the odd time he gets the read right, he shirt grabs and they go straight through him.
He goes missing when they need him and just all round sucks.

I think this is complete bullshit. If they pay 700k for Bird to leave, that frees up 275k but they also have to pay another player to fill his squad spot, which is 105k minimum.

So they'd save 170k in cap space on Bird and they'd free up 300k for Milford... I highly doubt they're going to pay $1.3 million to have all of that dead cap space just so they can free up 470k to use or best case, they have 600k to spend on two players..

Some players need a change of club to find there best again, these guys are both in a toxic environment in Brisbane. I don't think it's a bad idea as a 1 year deal and see how they go, there isn't much to lose if these figures are correct

Sure would, and Milford can add that theft to his long list of stealing wages. The fact the Donkeys are willing to pay for more than half his wage to get rid of him should tell you how much he is worth.

Milford needs to take a significant pay cut of he wants to continue playing NRL, he's just not a million dollar player.

Would prefer a Keary, followed by SJ, but would much prefer Milford over bird, and he would do better here with Baz than at the sinking ship they call the donkeys.!!!

Bird when actually on the field is a winner.

Milford just seems like used goods at the moment. He just doesn't really offer anything anymore. He's not a great half or Fullback.

Bird on the cheap for 1 year is a calculated gamble I'd take.

Milford can GTFO especially for 400k

And if a club is genuinely serious about doing that, wouldn't that hint that there is something seriously wrong with the player, beyond what is happening on the field (or beyond the failure to get on the field in the case of Bird)?

Such karma for the broncos, I love it!

Remember when they enticed Milford to break his raiders contract because he was 'Home Sick'... they did the same with barba..

I wonder if he'll still be homesick now that he's not wanted and another NRL club come calling?
