Was watching Fox Sports News and they announced that a Brisbane Bronco player is under investigation for allegedly assaulting a female the other night. The player, who they are not allowed to name supposedly punched or slap the woman in the face. That's pretty much all that they reported at the time.

From what I have heard, it's a forward.

This narrows it down.

NRL news: Brisbane Broncos player accused of assaulting woman
An unnamed Brisbane NRL player has been accused of assaulting a woman.

The Seven Network is reporting the Broncos' player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly had "slapped and manhandled" a woman known to him on Sunday night and will face court.

The Broncos and the NRL's integrity unit are aware of the incident.

"The club has made aware of a private matter involving a player that currently sits within a court proceeding," the Broncos said in a statement.

"The NRL Integrity Unit was immediately made aware of the matter by the Broncos, and no further comment can be made until the matter is resolved."

Queensland police are also reportedly making inquiries to determine if the alleged incident was isolated.

Can someone involved in law please tell us why players cannot be named "for legal reasons" when every other Tom, Dick or Harry gets named???

Unless its beyond doubt I think they are trying to avoid the media witch hunt.

It's actually the law in QLD, until he has been charged

And no he hasn't been charged, media said he has. (they lied)

Like all this sort of stuff... until the media drop a name don't speculate !!!!!.

If your post is removed from this thread it's because you inferred or quoted someone naming a player (we are not editing posts).

That should be the most worrying part if correct as that indicates it may not be an isolated incident.

Sounds to me like a domestic violence incident and they are looking to see if it's a one off or if shes been hit before.

Nothing to worry about, just standard police procedure, QLD police do that all cases where violence has happened.

It depends on if he is charged which court he goes to. QLD have a special DV court.

The Qld law.

The law is there to protect everyone until they are charged.

"Lawyers defending Gold Coast Titans players against charges of cocaine supply and possession are demanding the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) produce the evidence.

Legal teams representing current players Greg Bird, Dave Taylor, Beau Falloon, Jamie Dowling and Faifai Loa, and past players Ashley Harrison and Joe Vickery, were back in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday seeking another adjournment."

Just Brisbane ? Not Gold Coast ?

Umm

Drug charges & DV charges are totally different.

The DV laws in QLD, are to protect the person accused until they are charged with a DV crime.

It's the same law all over Australia. A person cannot be named until their matter is presented at Court. Then it becomes public information and the media can report the name, technically through accessing the court list but in reality they already know who it is. Exceptions to the rule are when a 'gag' order is authorised by the judge preventing publishing of the name and on the other side sometimes the defence will front the media before the matter is listed for publicity reasons.

Yeah there is that one hour window between when someone is charged and their name splashed across the internet and the granting of the suppression order...

If the media can speculate that the incident occurred, why cant we speculate who we think it is?
