He won Panthers the GF on the wing

Intercept try
Sure he took an intercept....I still wouldn't call him an elite winger. We already have better at the club. And he is already on 600k and would want an upgrade.... if he comes here it will be to play fullback and he has done dothing to demonstrate he can do that.

Have we not learnt our lesson
How many times do we want to pay overs for wingers and centres with the hope they can become a gun fullback?
We only end up moving them on before their contract ends and costing us more money and cap money.

I'm OK getting him as a centre for a fair and reasonable price tag, but pissed if we paying overs with hope of fullback
Exactly that...
At times when we were desperate I did understand why we took the risk,
Now we need not to no more !!!

The bloke is over paid and isn't a fullback worth that money, You pay top dollar for match winners
Wasn’t his intercept in last years grand final match winning? Also is it confirmed yet Billy Slater assistant for Ciraldo or was that only if we were getting Freddy?

Could go either way.

Our club and players have not shown any sustained resilience or "fight" for some time.

When the pressure is off they are a first grade team. When the pressure is on and they need peak performance, they generally collapse. (See the Todd Payten interview and how he has tried to deal with it at the Cowboys).

I really thought Gus would have a much bigger influence in getting them to 100% compete.

With almost everything in place for 2023 I guess it starts from Nov 1. Unfortunately World Cup will be impacting a full pre-season by the looks.
I am surprised that no one has mentioned that a real captain would solve the problem !!!

Good player but not convinced with him playing fullback.

You need a fullback with more natural skill and not just a freak athlete if you want to become a true contender. Since Barba left, we've had Perrett, Morris, DWZ, JAC etc, all of them are great athletes but none of them were great at overlapping, or throwing a cut out pass, or putting a grubber in, or marshalling the defence from the back.

One match winning play does not make a player a match winner.

A match winning play in the biggest game of any players career one might argue

Let’s not downplay it like it was a regular round 6 game at Leichhardt on a Friday night

Sure, it was a huge play, but to be a match winner you need to demonstrate ability to win matches for a side fairly consistently....I haven't seen that from Crichton. And I certainly haven't seen evidence he will make a good fullback. Going down this road of signing a specialist in one position to play another has ended badly for us on a number of occasions.

The problem with the Dogs and other similar teams is that they complain that specialist and proven stars command big bucks (like 1M or 1.2M) yet it's teams like the Dogs and similar teams who pay inflated prices for unproven players played in spine positions and offered stupid money to do so.

The hope is that they unearth the next superstar in that position and have him locked in at a cheap rate for the next 3 or 4 years, but all they really do is pay on "potential" and simply inflate the cost of the true and proven superstar players to above 1M.

If you want a superstar, budget for him and go out and get one. Don't pay stupid money on potential and whinge that your real target was overpriced

Alot of tge issue with teams like the dogs paying overs for regular players is the fact the NRLOL force all teams to spend 90% or 95% of the salary cap each year. Wether you have superstars or spuds is irrelevant.

Meaney, Duffman, Hoppa aswell but no-one cemmented the position.
If Jake dont work out our we need to blackmail a proven FB to come to the club.

Haha,
If you could have any fullback at our club
Who would you want. Hypothetical question.

Paps, always injured

Teddy, prob best option of the best fullbacks, but cam be a bit of a ball hog

Turbo, again always injured Prob my preference

Ponga, pfft lazy fuck reminds me of jarrad Hayne.

Cutherson,
I hate the guy for some reason, can't put my finger on it.

Dylan Edwards
Now we talking, can we have him please

Ceraldo, bring Edwards to the club
