I still don't understand how he put pressure on himself. It was the Tigers who opened this can of worms.
Last year when they were a basketcase and in line for their 3rd wooden spoon, he said he couldn't wait to leave the joint, as well as asking for a release from his contract
This season, Tigers have performed well in their games and things look on the up.
Round 6 Tigers go to his management and ask to extend his deal, his management say they're not interested and that he plans to see out his contract and leave the club, they did NOT ask for a release. He even gave Tigers 2 years worth of notice for them not to count on him, in the salary cap era, that's a massive advantage for Tigers to get their house in order and plan accordingly.
Round 7 Galvin is dropped because he rejected Tiger's extension offer. Tigers make public Galvin doesn't have faith in Benji as a coach.
Before these contract extension talks there were no rumblings of playing group discontent, of Galvin not getting along with others, of Galvin not putting in at training or on match days. Galvin set up tries, celebrated with his teammates when they scored.
There were no rumblings of problems at all. Then tigers made all of this public and dropped him and had other players bag him out.
He put pressure on himself by hiring the worst manager in the game who is notorious for destabilising things with clubs and playing everything out through the media as has been done here.
There was talk about Galvin wanting a release last year as well. It's not a new thing. Fair enough if he wants to be elsewhere but he and his manager and the Tigers have all handled this badly.
I don't know why so many people are defending a player manager who has pulled this same shit countless times and is so notorious for it that Gus and several other clubs refuse to deal with him. It's not a coincidence that this keeps happening with a lot of his clients.
