I still don't understand how he put pressure on himself. It was the Tigers who opened this can of worms.

Last year when they were a basketcase and in line for their 3rd wooden spoon, he said he couldn't wait to leave the joint, as well as asking for a release from his contract

This season, Tigers have performed well in their games and things look on the up.

Round 6 Tigers go to his management and ask to extend his deal, his management say they're not interested and that he plans to see out his contract and leave the club, they did NOT ask for a release. He even gave Tigers 2 years worth of notice for them not to count on him, in the salary cap era, that's a massive advantage for Tigers to get their house in order and plan accordingly.

Round 7 Galvin is dropped because he rejected Tiger's extension offer. Tigers make public Galvin doesn't have faith in Benji as a coach.

Before these contract extension talks there were no rumblings of playing group discontent, of Galvin not getting along with others, of Galvin not putting in at training or on match days. Galvin set up tries, celebrated with his teammates when they scored.

There were no rumblings of problems at all. Then tigers made all of this public and dropped him and had other players bag him out.

He put pressure on himself by hiring the worst manager in the game who is notorious for destabilising things with clubs and playing everything out through the media as has been done here.

There was talk about Galvin wanting a release last year as well. It's not a new thing. Fair enough if he wants to be elsewhere but he and his manager and the Tigers have all handled this badly.

I don't know why so many people are defending a player manager who has pulled this same shit countless times and is so notorious for it that Gus and several other clubs refuse to deal with him. It's not a coincidence that this keeps happening with a lot of his clients.

Only thing Galvin has done wrong is have a proven scumbag as his manager and falling for his bullshit.

I'd like to know what his dads role is in this though...

Probably like KO's family.

BS'ing to get their own way.

1. Mitchell Moses confirming he and Galvin caught up a few months ago.
2. Mitchell Moses is the nephew of Isaac Moses.
3. Galvin is a Parra supporter.
4. A million bucks just opened up in the Eels cap with Brown gone.

Would be very surprised if he doesn’t end up there.
Don't know what the kid plans to develop there... unless it's an ulcer.

He's definitely going to the eels

People acting like the Luai and Turuva posts are bullying is sone soft bullshit. Nothing wrong with Luai post at all, Teamfirst is what i would want my players to feel. Turuva posted to his close friends and a snitch **** took a screenshot of it. Thats like sharing a joke from the group chat. Galvin decided he didnt want to sign good on him, manager fckd him over by handling it like this.
Braith Anasta summed it up pretty well. Luai has completely changed his game to accomodate a 19 year old kid. Has shown a team first attitude in taking on an organisational role and letting Galvin play the off the cuff role he has traditionally played. Not only did Galvin choose to walk away, he and his management took a swipe at Luai's coach, whom he holds in very high regard, on the way out. Add that to the reports of Galvin saying he couldn't wait to leave after his team got pumped last year and is it any wonder the players are pissed?

I don't think the social media posts were a great look, even though Turuva's probably wasn’t meant for public consumption, their feelings probably should have been kept in house... but it's not hard to understand why the playing group would be royally pissed off about this.

Also, people saying Luai left for the money? Seriously? He won four comps at Penrith.... signed on for less than he could have earned to continue the dynasty in his previous deal. Successful teams are going to lose players eventually, it's inevitable... and at some point players have to look after their financial futures ... doesn't nmean Luai isn't all in on trying to make this Tigers team a success. As for the get out clause, my understanding is it relates to Benji remaining coach. He's not the first player to come to a club to play under a certain coach.

Interesting that Luai, a four time premiership winner and origin rep wants to play under Benji but Galvin, a 19-year-old who was probably only just sprouting pubes when Luai won his first comp thinks he'd be better off under Ryles.

Honestly, I don't thnink the way Galvin has gone about this has been respecvtful at all. He's young and his mistakes are forgivable but if he ever wants to be a team first guy he should be distancing himself from his current agent, tbh.

If Galvin goes to Parra then everything they claimed about the Tigers is all bullshit. Because Parra are another shambles of a club with a shocking coach. You're not going there to win or get better.

He's probably fucked his career already if he causes all this fuss just to sign a similar deal with another shit club/coach.
I agree. No problem if he just said he wants to play for his boyhood club etc

But to say it’s all about development, you can’t then go to a worse developmental club.

I imagine the way Parra is selling this to him is:
Almost whole squad is off contract in the next 18 months. Sign with us now and we will shape the whole team to focus on your strengths and make your life as easy as possible.

The NRL is going to move closer to the NBA where player power takes over. I think this is why Galvin has received some excessive backlash, he has kind of become the poster boy of this new era.

Parra will struggle to attract decent players even with a tonne of cap space though. Even with Galvin and Moses, they need a whole new pack and backline. And bench. Parra will likely waste a bunch of money on overrated big names. Plus they would have $3 million a year tied up in Moses, Galvin and Lomax alone.

Bro the fact that he's rejected a 6 year deal, with $1 million a year, it's clearly not just about the money. That deal is almost on par with Dylan Brown's $1.4 mill per year for 10 years. I say almost on par, because it's stupid money for Galvin, at the moment, imo he would maximum command 800k per season, so Tigers have offered him overs.

So it can't just be about the money, Tigers have offered well above overs IMO, and his team would know this, so it can't just be about the money.
But if he ends up at Parra, then it proves its about money.

Ryles is as rubbish as Benji

That last bit is interesting in context of Gus comment about different agents. Some stay in their lane, and the club stays in their lane as well. Others are constantly trying to tell the club how their player should be developed and sticking their noses in as though they are also the coach. It doesn't work. Agents are interested in the individual client, that's fine, they have an important role to play in doing so. When it comes to playing the game of rugby league, the individual aspects of a player come after the needs of the team. That means the coaches decide the training, the tactics, and the team list, not the agent.

Have a listen to yesterday's 6 tackles with Gus, some really interesting insights into agents, some stick to their job, others constantly interfering.

Maybe he likes to have a September holiday though you can confidently book them playing for Parra

Yeah. Before Monday, Lachlan was the messiah, and now it's "he's not that good anyway" hahahaha

They do have a better half coming through potentially. Ridiculously rated. He will be in the side in 2-3 weeks, Doeuhi is just an interim and he's fine will do a job

Ridiculously rated by Wests maybe. Not saying he's not good, but Galvin is rated across the entire NRL, to the point that nobody is questioning that he'll get a mil per season at another club, and he's proven he can perform in the top grade.

Latu was part of a bidding war too, and he's a halfback, as good as Galvin is they would have had to make a call in the next 2 years or so anyway (no way he was staying in reserve grade for 2 plus years). Just because Phil says the guy is that good doesn't mean he is, comes across as a bloke with a very big ego for starters. Mediocre halves are getting a million I mean Dylan Brown somehow jagged that

Galvin is WAY better than Latu.
