News BREAKING: Lachlan Galvin drops bombshell as young gun rejects Tigers $5m offer

Tigers release Galvin to Parra.
Knights release Thompson to us.
Parra release Brown to knights.
It gives Tigers breathing room to extend Luai, Bula and Fainu long term.
That’s for sure what Gus is pushing for.
We aren’t freeing up cash for shits and giggles. Two backup props gone in weeks.

I work with a bloke who knows the Galvins and he told me something that was talked about weeks ago
So apparently there is more to this and it’ll come out over the next few weeks or so that Luai and co from the moment they walked into tigers completely shut off Galvin and there’s a clique of islander boys (started before Luai and Turuva joined actually) who were pushing for Fainu to start and have also made others feel not apart of the team. Bateman and Klemmer also didn’t get along with them. And this is why tigers come out first to look like the better party.
Sit back and relax people this could get juicy. Kids don’t walk away from $5 million contracts for nothing
I'm not necessarily doubting this, but at least some of it doesn't seem to add up. Bateman and Klemmer both have history of not being happy and blaming others. If the problem is an islander boys driven thing, then why did Stefano leave? Why are Twal, Douehi, and Sukkar there and named in the team or in reserves (they are as islander as I am)? Why are Seyfarth, Bird, and Da Silva playing and apparently happy? Why weren't there any problems at Panfers when Luai and Turuva were playing next to blokes like Cleary, Edwards, Yeo, and Martin?

Did you mention anything about this at the time.

on a lighter note, it's funny watching some of the Tigers fans and Tigers sympathisers on socials trying to work out which potential suitor to be mad at.

All I’ve seen is them celebrating. This is their biggest win since 2005 the sad *****.

Your calculations appear to be correct, professor.... only problem is Galvin reportedly made those comments after a heavy loss to the Dragons in Round 14 last year.

Honestly, we all get stuff wrong on occasion, but it takes a special effort to double down after having your error pointed out to you only to get things even wronger. Well done!

You would have to be the most obstinate person I have ever come across. Just admit you made a basic error and move on. No, instead you act like you need to be a professor to understand a calendar fucking year and that you are still right?! Haha fuck me.. go on then.

Lots of people saying Galvin’s in the wrong, he’s got no loyalty. After what certain teammates have been posting online, no wonder he doesn’t want to play with em. I’ll note too, his comments after the flogging last year, saying he can’t wait to get out of the club, whoopie freaking do. Footy can be emotional at times, we all say things in the heat of the moment. I mean even if he meant it, it’s obvious he puts in 100% every single time he plays. THATS what it means, despite outside distractions, team first, and that’s all his teammates, and fans can ask for.

That all sounds well and good but imagine if a Bulldog player came out and said that. Everyone would be saying get out asap including myself.

Tiger have made a tough but correct call.

Stefano left for the exact same reasons Galvin didn’t he? Coaching.
There’s cliques in every team, I’m just saying what I heard, I don’t know the Galvins lol. Anyone who’s played team sports will tell you that is multiple cliques, maybe Galvin being the one who is offered a million a year at 19 just didn’t sit well with the rest of their spine players.
There will be two sides to this. I think it’s best they release him and they all do an NDA and move on

Good luck with that one, they haven't done anything wrong in the posts, all they have stated is Team First, that's it. Oh the horror players want to have team unity as the forefront, it's what Penrith was known for the last 4 plus years. It's what a lot of teams practice, if you follow AFL a little bit it's what the Lions sent around early last year, look how that turned out too.

End of the day a stand had to be made.

So liking posts of fans telling them to smash him is cool?

No stand was made genius. They simply acted like spiteful ***** when told the boy wonder didn’t wanna be at the joint.

That’s just it @Mr 95% one thing you can never blame him for is not putting in. I have been saying he’s overrated for a long time which is funny now I’m defending him, but I honestly don’t think he deserves the backlash and like I said, he is usually one of Tigs hardest workers every week. You could do a lot worse in a player that supposedly doesn’t even want to be there.

As long as the guy is doing his best on the field i personally don’t care if he’s going to another club. The bloke is a big reason they are having a better season than they have been in the last few years. If they wanna cut their nose off to spite their face because they are butt hurt, more fool them.

*Sigh.

He reportedly told his teammates he couldn't wait to leave in mid 2024. His contract excpires at the end of 2026. That's approximately 2.5 years. Honestly, explain to me how your maths is correct and mine is incorrect and I'll admit I'm wrong lol

PS I have admitted I was wrong at least twice on here and one of those times I was being generous.

I don't know if you can give your all if you do not want to be there. It is a recipe for a dressing room divide and ultimately disaster. Roy Keane would be blowing up at a prima donna like that.

Professionalism. It’s the way it is these days. It’s what gets the job done in my view, and Galvin has been their best player. Certainly been giving his all on the field. Probably been playing for a contract at another club! Lol.

Benji Marshall is unproven as a coach at any level. Guy retired at the end of 2021 and is coaching in 2023. I don't blame Galvins parents if they don't have faith in a guy who hasn't even done a proper apprenticeship.

The only value Utility adds is as my moral barometer. I know if I am in an opposite side to him about something then I am on the right path.

Dude is a 47…

I guess it’s the old adage, Just because you were a great player, doesn’t mean you’ll be a great coach.

Doesn't mean you won't either. Phil Gould retired as a player at the end of 1986. Won his first comp as a coach in 88. Oh, wait. He was never a great player lol

Honestly, if I'm on the other end of your moral yardstick, I can't be all bad lol
