I'd get James Roby for this year and next year and get an up comer off the bench who's young and willing to learn off skilled hooker. Amen

Munster abolsutely tore shreds of Brandon Smith for his poor service most of that first half just before half time. LOLLLL that’s what happens when you have back rower playing 9
Not sure why many on here were stressing for his signature. Read things like he’s a bulldogs type player blah blah just LOL. He’s a back rower who can play nine. It’s also very deceiving when a player wears a storm jersey. Automatically people want to start paying him $900k plus

I remember the game cam smith played halfback last year. Storm were not doing well. They were losing the ruck. Couldn’t get any momentum. Smith goes to hooker for the last 10 mins. He was throwing rockets from the ground. Hitting players on the fly. Directing the attack and picking out the opposition defensive line. Storm made a come back and won.

And the starting hooker was one B Smith.

I think hooker is such a specialist position, that if you don’t work on your game consistently you will never be elite.

B Smith spent the last 2-3 years playing utility/back row. His passing from the ground isn’t great, his fitness isn’t great, his lateral speed isn’t great.

Grant is the only hooker at the storm worth chasing. And he’d be worth every cent of 1.1 million.

Kid did the right thing going to the tigers too. Spent the year developing his game at 9, instead of being used as a bulldozer and bulking up to be a back rower.

B Smith might need a season or 2 to get back into hooker shape and get the rhythm of the game again. Not worth the punt and I always said it.

Smith has never been the answer ..... I’m perplexed why people persist with suggesting he is the answer to our missing 9

I’d say that game made up Melbourne’s mind if there was any doubt he may stay on. Melbourne and B Smith are to blame for where he’s at right now... Melbourne were selfish in wanting to keep him whilst Cam Smith was firing, turned him into a backrower impacting his weight and fitness and B Smith equally took Bellamy’s bait on the “one more year” promise tagging him along and it backfired deluxe because in parallel, Cam Smith kept playing on and Melbourne allowed Harry Grant to play for Tigers in his preferred #9 gaining invaluable experience and he’s leapfrogged B Smith.
The game is getting faster and if you want to be a 700k+ hooker, you need to be able to push out 80mins, have a kicking game, get your forwards on the front foot and lead your defensive line.
