when we were kings

interestingly, in the space of a couple years the Cowboys took Thurston, Travis Norton, Paul Rauhihi, and Billy Johnstone off us
And we basically set up melbourne storm with coach and players

He was the benchmark for super fit players and teams for a long period of time in the NRL. Times change though and so do the types of fitness required to match the current player and game.

Quality stuff. Really enjoyed the content. Great insight to get some perspective of a players point of view, when we have all these memories of it as a fan.

My favourite Bulldogs player - and the best player to never play Origin.

Only heard first 20 mins so far, good insight regarding doggies training back in the early 00's - speaks to why we were the toughest and fittest team in the comp around that era too.

Exactly.. what I am getting out of that is the training usually separated the tough from the weak and that's really how the sides were picked back then. It was not about skill or being the fittest bloke that could get thru training, it was how bad you wanted it and how hard you pushed yourself through exhaustion and the pain. That embodies the team we had then.. tough as nails, guys like Gilles, Britt, Pay and Reardon carried the culture forward in the mid to late 90s to guys like Mason, Omeley, Maitua, SBW and Asotasi.

Live what Denan Kemp's doing these days, but is it so hard for him to learn anything about Rugby League pre-2010?

It's shocking how little he knows about moments and players in the NRL.
