Not that I'm defending blue balls's purchase, but depending on the model, LG is actually one of the better brands. Samsung have gone all out with their QLED tech which still uses an led back-lit panel. Whereas OLED used individual pixels to produce an image, and there for overall can produce a better overall picture quality. Only advantage with a QLED TV over OLED is better brightness.
Sony tv's tend to have amazing colour, but suffer from motion blur and poor black levels (I speak from experience, I own a Sony OLED)

But in the end, it's a matter of personal preference

Renters usually find the largest tv size they can get for the lowest price. They will grab a 75 inch linglong tv from aldi for $399 and sit there with their tiny prawns thinking does it get better than this.

I didn’t buy anything... thats why I drive a new Audi and own my own home! Have the same Samsung tv I bought back in 2012 still rockin on, only wish our Dogs had the same lasting ability!
