Where your NRL team will finish in 2025 as per the bookies
Penrith have rode roughshod over the rest of the competition for the past four years. But their golden run is finally set to come to an end, according to the bookies, with the Panthers not installed as the early favourites.

Instead, that honour goes to last season's beaten grand finalists Melbourne Storm, while Ivan Cleary's men sit closely behind them in the market.

Brisbane failed to make the top-eight last season as Kevin Walters was shown the door and the Broncos hit the reset button. This has clearly been viewed as the right move with Michael Maguire's side - aided by the signing of Ben Hunt - third favourite to claim the title.

Cronulla, Canterbury and Manly are in the next line of betting with South Sydney also surprisingly handed the same price as the Sea Eagles.

The Wayne Bennett factor looms large over Redfern with the Rabbitohs backed despite receiving arguably the toughest draw for the campaign ahead.

Meanwhile, North Queensland have been listed behind both the Bunnies and the Sydney Roosters in a major shock.

Parramatta and Wests Tigers finished in the bottom four last season but they find themselves in the middle of the pack as premiership fancies. New Zealand Warriors sit a little further back from the Sydney duo.

Newcastle finished in the top eight last season and have Kalyn Ponga to call upon, yet the Knights have been snubbed in the market after being grouped with the Dolphins and Gold Coast as rank outsiders.

Canberra missed out on finals footy via points differential alone last season but stand no chance of breaking their premiership drought, according to the bookies.

Finally, St George Illawarra are expected to pick up the wooden spoon after launching into a significant rebuild during Shane Flanagan's second year in charge.

I have us coming 9th, same top 8 but different order, just switch with Cowboy. The competition tougher again next year even the teams competing for the wooden spoon aren't bad (Dolphin, Tiger for e.g.). We could defs finish 5th, just not where I'm tipping us to finish (a bit disappointed with recruitment).

Agree. Recruitment promised so much but didn't really deliver. Natural improvement should see us just in the top 8 I reckon.

We are obviously still light in the front row and Sexton is still a big question mark.

How accurate was your prediction on our ladder position last season;
Early 2024 prediction
16th.

Well at least you can't be that wrong (10 positions out) for next season.

there is normally every year 4 teams from outside make the eight and one team from outside the 8 makes top4, i reckon most even comp we have seen for a long time

I think we’ll finish third, with Tom Amone ripping opposition packs a new one.

He will quickly establish himself as one of the alpha forwards in the comp and will give Reed, Burton, Sexton and our outside backs a great platform to attack oppo defences.

Our attack did improve dramatically, now that we mastered our defence I think this year we will see more ball playing/ second phase plays.

I agree that recruitment so far hasn't been great, but there is still plenty of time. Pahulu and Thompson both have not re-signed yet.

Sexton is a question mark, but you have to remember he essentially started like half way through the season with the 1st grade side and he made a great impact, just fell off a bit at the end with a lot on his back and tired forwards. I think with a full pre-season and starting round 1 as our halfback, we can really see what he is made of.
The thing I like about sexton is his desire to improve himself. I think the biggest issue with players not becoming stars is the work ethic.
Sexton realised he needed to get his shit together to take over uncle hutcho and worked his ass off to get there.

I really hope sexton improves because we really need better direction in attack. I'm optimistic for next season considering what we did this year.

2025 comp looks a lot more even than recent years. I have Storm winning the whole thing, salary cap doesn’t seem to hit them as hard as others ;) we won’t have the element of surprise in 2025, teams will be ready for us, so we’ll definitely need to work harder. But I think we can improve on the foundations we’ve built in defence and hopefully attack as well. I have us sitting around 7-9th. I think a few other teams have recruited/strengthened squads enough they might jump us. I’d be disappointed in missing the 8 given how much we improved in 2024 and actually threw away a few games that could have seen us finish higher. But with an even comp might only be a win or two between several places on the ladder.

The Storm, Panthers & Sharks will finish in the top 4. Bulldogs, Sea Eagles & Broncos will make the top 8 somewhere.

The other 2 spots in the top 8 will be out of the Rabbitohs, Eels & Cowboys.

Storm Sharks Penrith are the only locks for the 8, rest is up for grabs

storm won't miss out on the top 8 next year unless they have a bad run with injuries

Prior to this year Bellamy had lost 4 GF. 3 times they won the GF the very next year & the 4th time they won it 2 years later. Storm are favourites for the title.

Is Tom Amone the hill you're going to die on for season 2025?

I don’t like betting markets before a ball is kicked.

I‘ve felt that the things that often determine the top 8 and top 4, are injuries, suspensions and the workload of players involved in Origin.

Is Tom Amone the hill you're going to die on for season 2025?
What hill? He’s been the best forward in the super league for the past two seasons. You guys seriously underrate him and what a master stroke signing he is. Soon you will all be helping me to build a shanty on top of that hill.
