OUR DEFENCE is TOP NOTCH, we use it to wear them out a then we STRIKE a strangle the fuck outa them. It’s brilliant
Our defence is top notch, but our heart is bigger. The way we play the game is not a stat that can be told. With a smaller team and what we do and how we play. Its insane....

The last few years probably 10 we have had one or maybe two great defenders players not afraid to get down and dirty doing the effort plays like JACKO and JAMES GRAHAM. But now we have a team of them great coaching great attitude.

The first column in that graph has us as the worst attacking team in the top 8. Which on the face of it isn't good but given how much our attack has improved in recent weeks negates that stat. At least to some extent.
When the numerology theory first appeared I thought it was fun to read but never believed it would be a chance of happening. Or at most a very slight chance. But now I think I've jumped onto the 2024 numerology bus.
Of all the things that Ciro has instilled in this team the one thing that could just get us over the line is belief. And that string of numbers ending in 4 is one of many triggers for the level of belief we need to climb to the top of the NRL pile.
That theory on its own would do very little to create success but in combination with everything that has happened since Gus arrived it may just be the last piece of the puzzle. I am a believer in the club more than any other single ingredient but I am also a believer in the numbers. I think the players and staff might also believe even if they would never admit it. Would be interesting to ask them after the Bulldogs hold up the shield at the end of the season.

With Critta saying "we'd rather stop a try, than score one" this probably accounts for our low attack numbers.

Next year hopefully we can execute top team on both sides of the game :grinning:

To show how absolutely dominant Penrith have been defensively, the best (untainted) performance in this regard in the last 20 years was their 2022 season, with 286 points against from their 24 games with an average of 11.9
I say untainted because the Storm had a couple of slightly superior defensive seasons but they had them in the middle of their asterisk years where they were stripped of everything and, Penrith did it in the 6 again era!
Crazy stuff. Couldn’t be fucked going back further but don’t think anyone has touched 10 ppg conceded in a 24 game season and probably won’t now.
