2700 tonne of ammonium would easily cause that blast, Bulk storage of AN is highly regulated in Australia for that reason, The world trade center blast was only four tonne from memory and 5kg will blow a blue gum stump clean out of the ground
Demo experts agree with you. They say the fire before the blast gives it away.

What would it take to set it off? Open flame? Spark?

PS would AN set of a shock wave like that?
Bro I would rather not get into the mechanics of detonation but yeah that shock wave wouldn’t be unexpected from that amount of AN

2750 tonnes of amonium nitrate next to a fireworks factory ,remember what a van load of that shit did in the us
Reports it just wasn't AN, also other confiscated chemicals that could be used in an attack.

Spoke to some of my relatives and they all said it wasn't a matter of if, but when TSHTF.

Was just thinking the same thing, AN was the main ingredient in McVeigh's bomb in Oklahoma...

All kinds of explosive stuff gets stored at ports, really dangerous places. Unless tightly regulated they are accidents waiting to happen, they are also a good target for a bombing because all the explosives are already there.
