Do you mean the shop opposite Lakemba primary? I do remember that. I dont recognise those surnames.
Yep the one across the set of lights. They were friends of my mum and dad.
Do you remember the white plastic cups of cordial they used to have frozen with foil wrapped coins as a reward? Were Mrs James and Mrs Smolinski at Lakemba when you were there?

Mrs Smolenski ..yes. Was she the Headmistress? I remember that tuckshop well...but given you were 4 years behind me the ices you speak of may have been a later item.
Remember the opportunity classes....they got to do special excursions. I was always so envious. Once they had one to Narabeen National Fitness camp and there were some spare spots so the 'ordinary' 6th graders could fill them. I was so excited because there were boys from across the road too! Ha ha

Yep, she was the head mistress. The opportunity classes were called OA I think.

I actually got out my old school reports and my Red Cross certificate with the little red koala on it the other day. Found a school magazine from Wiley Park Girls high as well.
Now you must remember the milk we got everyday that they keep in the concrete covered thing in the playground. The glass bottles and the striped waxed paper straws. Remember some other teachers from Lakemba Miss Leary and Mr Tuffy but they may have been there after you left.

The opportunity classes were OC. The OA class was for developmentally delayed children. Who could forget the milk?
Teachers I remember from primary were Miss Meston, Thursby, Pearson, Payne, Buchanan,

That’s right about the classes. OC & OA , don’t know why I confused them. Buchanan rings a bell for me.
Were Mr Ison Miss Peard and Miss Rooke at Wiley Park when you were there?

Did you go to the high schools 50th anniversary in 2007?. That was a good day and lol even though I hadn’t been inside the school since 1975 it hadn’t changed that much. Was great to see what others were up to.

Can't recall any of those names from Wiley Park. I remember Mr Jessup Miss Rickards Mrs Breckwaltd (art).
I didn't know about the reunion in 2007. I went to a couple at Roselands for our year 10 to 12 group.

Yeah I guess staff turnovers may have been fairly regular then.
I worked at a school until recently and the turnover was small. Guessing these days teachers are happy to stay in the one place.

The reunion was nice, at that time only knew of one who has passed, one who had disappeared( a couple of us who used to hang around together tried everything to locate them but they had just vanished). It was strange, every one obviously looked older but the same if you know what I mean. We had actresses, drs, lawyers, teachers, wide range of careers.

I grew up not far from Roselands shopping centre and remember the day it caught fire. Stood in the middle of the road and saw the flames clear as day. Only a few streets from you where McDonald’s is located.

I thought Roselands wS wonderful. There was nothing like it before. The movie theatre. Raindrop fountain etc. I even had my wedding in the Rose Room. My best friend from school has died. She was due right through high school.. I used to go to all the "berries" home games and some away ones with her. We liked the social side as much as the team.

First lived in Punchbowl. Attended Mt Lewis and Lakemba public schools and Wiley Park Girls High.
First time at footy with dad...I didn't know much but remember Les Johns was all the talk. Went to all home games as a teenager to watch the Berries. Now I get to a couple a year with kids and grandkids....so good to be part of the resurgence after a difficult few years.
I had a berries badge from the Telegraph my uncle lived in Heckenburg when i was 7 he was a Doggies fan hence my addiction

I saw Jaws at the “ Roselands theatre beautiful”. Also worked at Commonwealth Bank branch there when I was on relieving staff. My home branch. Used to love swimming at the pool as well. Went back there recently and nothing like it was in the 60’ and 70’.

Saw Les Johns play, and still think he is the perfect fullback. Great football brain. Met him at Berries training a few times; he is a gentleman through and through.
Had the nice experience of chatting to Les last year. His son Ben was with him. Les was astonished that any Bulldogs fan even remembered him such is his modesty. he was chuffed to learn his Bulldog and Kangaroo player numbers which Ben wrote down for Les to keep - he wasn’t even aware they existed. Top fella but getting quite frail…

Worked near Roselands for a while, in Bonds Road near the corner of Martin Street, from 1985 to 89.

I too saw Les Johns play in my first Berries game at Belmore against Manly in the midweek game at night. My mate who is church of England denomination and me being catholic and he was in the church of England boys society, I joined them as he was my best mate and they had a night out at the footy and I went along and since then I have been a Dogs supporter. I used to live in Sefton. I used to go to Chester Hill primary school and then on to Sefton high school. As you said we have had some difficult years, I used to be the first person to go through the Belomre sports ground whenever we played there. Now i'm almost the first person to go through the Accor stadium gates, I have a platinum membership and turn up early at the Locker Room Pub to meet whoever is there, friend or foe. I have been supporting the Dogs nigh on 60 years now and would never ever support another team, i'm a doggie for life. There is also a Bulldogs supporters site on Facebook page called the Bulldogs Debate Page(BDP) and i'm on there all the time under the name of Joe Biki.
