Teams have always trained with refs, not as common to have them in an official role though.

Not unexpected, it seems to confirm that Melbourne's current head of refereeing CSmith is retiring and moving to the Gold Coast. Hence they needed a replacement to tell the referees how to do their job properly when refereeing Melbourne games.

Don't like Sutton or Storm, but this is a good appointment forthem. As long as he isn't working for the NRL, he can work wherever.

We should look into doing something similar.

It smells worse than a bucket of raw prawns left in the hot sun. When it comes to having the rules explained, every club should be getting exactly the same information and advice.

Doesn't look good for the integrity of the game. Teams can have different fitness regimes, defense tactics training, energy drinks, etc. But the same ruleset is supposed to apply to all when teams are on the field. Yeah that doesn't always appear to be the case, but importantly for the game it must appear that the NRL is doing all it can to keep things fair. Allowing this kind of thing makes it a laughing stock. WWNRL, the latest in "sports entertainment".

Agree with your sentiments but there isn't a thing that can be done, all sorts of restraint of trade issues if the NRL nazi's were to get involved, even those bunch of mike hunts aren't that dictatorial or silly.

Also dont like the storm one bit but it is a very smart move for their team going forward noone knows better than an ex ref how to get the best treatment...and their effectively just replacing one **** with another so we can continue to hate on them

Doesn't look for the integrity of the game, since when has the game shown any integrity mate.
