I did alot of research, it was on Page 2 of this thread you gooses. :D

Re-signings are all great news, just a concern looking forward is the amount of better players we have contracted till 2011, all coming off contract at the same time:

Roberts
Morris
Idris
Hannant
Ennis
Eastwood
Patten?
Ryan?

Awesome news! But we will struggle to hold onto this team in a couple of years. I think Roberts will be at his peak then. Idris will still only be 20-21 when coming off contract. By then I expect he will be one of the best centres in the game.

he just guessed ffs :p i want a proper list dammit!
Haha. Well that should be pretty accurate and give everyone a fair idea.

Like I said before, worrying about 2011 in 2009 is a bit silly and with Bobcat and the General off contract then that will free up alot of money to re-sign and upgrade some of those guys and we can always upgrade them and extend them before 2011 if they warrant it.

There can be drawbacks to signing players on long contracts. Injuries, form, attitudes can change a lot in a couple of years.

The club is a lot better off doing as they have and leaving the door open for contract extensions.

Players tend not to get complacent about being too safe and aren't as likely to suffer from anxiety over being locked into a long term contract.

This news brings a smile to my dial.

I too would love to see these boys Bulldogs for life. I hope they only get better, and really - they only can :grinning:

I too would have wanted Idris to sign for more than 2 years but I reckon Greenburg and Moore have it all worked out.
They may very well offer to renew his contract well before it expires, in 2010perhaps.

i dont think we need to worry too much bout 2011. I am sure Greenburg and co have thought about that and I have 100% confidence in him and they have done this for a reason. lets just be happy with the good news

Thing is we should have a more proactive approach to re-signings...

Ie attempt to re-sign a player we want a year before he's actually off-contract
