There’s experience then there’s wastage. Hunt is looking for a club for retirement. Plus with his roots being embedded into QLD culture, you wouldn’t want that experience coming from him. Skills only go a long way culture is what we need. Ontop of that, he will only give our halves experience in choking :tearsofjoy:

Apparently he chased us not the other way around and apparently he’s having issues getting out of Melbourne. Nfi what issues he has “getting out of Melbourne” and whether he means the club or the city itself I have no idea but it may explain the 1 year extension
 
Well you have to understand Gus knows how to build a roster. Sexton and Burton made 6th on ladder. Hunt and Flanagan 10th on ladder. Hunt is not good without marquee players around him and isn't worth the price tag. I believe sexton is more of a player then hunt for his price tag. The only thing was missing from the dogs team last year was x2 strong props. I believe in Gus and CC.

Sexton wasn’t even first choice to start the season. Hutchison lost the job being subpar in the first few rounds more than Sexton winning it.
If you think Sexton is not up for fighting for his job then he should just leave now

Weird. As his GF moved to Melbourne a few months ago.

He still could have signed with a Sydney club for 2026 season.

Very. But if it’s not true, then it gives Melbourne the ammunition to come back and confirm otherwise and drag gus through the mud so that doesn’t make sense either.

Also..we have stated that we won’t be pulled into a ‘who’s got the biggest dick’ competition for a player anymore

All just a rouse to keep the kid understudy hanging in limbo a bit longer and give up ideas of leaving anytime soon by dangling the carrot with Paps only signing a one year extension :grinning:

He's been playing in the halves for what, around 5 years now.... Even played with Luai in the halves at Penrith.

I guess we'll be talking about him in 20 years time and the excuse will be he never got the opportunity to play with the right halves partner that can "set him free to reach his potential"

We've seen his ceiling mate. It is what it is.

The only thing that would have made him better was for us to get to get Ben Hunt who would have the guts to fire both barrels at him for not putting enough good games together....
