News Ben Hunt moves to Broncos

Hunt sounds like trouble.

Given also we have plenty of promising halves coming through not the worst decision to reject him.

Although him leaving the Saints makes sense considering his permanent partner was Kyle Flanagan
Hunt under Griffin at both Broncos and Dragons was allowed to run his own race. Shane Flanagan makes players accountable and he expects leadership from leaders. He got that from Gallen, Ennis, Lewis and Wade Graham. Flanagan didn’t miss in the James Graham podcast. Hunt couldn’t handle a coach who made him accountable.

The offers from Dolphins, Gus and Politis didn’t include a token job of appearing in a few photos after retirement for all 3 it was a quick hit and run job. Considering Gus has a lot of former players on the payroll it seems he wasn’t willing to do the same for Hunt despite being a clear admirer and tried three times to sign him purely as an elite player nothing post football.

Broncos were willing and threw in the job and it’s a loophole for players heading into retirement. What we have to ask is why we got hit when Gus asked Jackson to retire a year early to take up a job and Wests Tigers weren’t allowed to offer a cap free job for Farah. Jackson was a one club man and Farah played well over 200 games for Wests.

We were able to offer Reynolds a retirement job of appearing in a few photos.

For Broncos they didn’t want little brother getting one over them, they aren’t winning the pub test by supporting Mam despite all the propaganda by their PR manager Pete Badel and McGuire always works in desperate short term fixes.

Or all the above lol.
@King Gus sorry I didn’t reply earlier I saw your post about a family member of yours injured by a drug driver I just wanted to give you my support and keep on being strong. I hope that person is recovering well. The way the Broncos and Pete Badel have carried on supporting Mam is a disgrace.

While i definitely do agree with all this, Shane Flanagan is a bit of a hypocrite when it comes to his son. You can understand why players at the Dragons would be immeasurably frustrated when certain players aren't held to the same standards as rest of the and are given walk in privileges into the side. If Shane was being unbiased, Kyle would've been dropped midway through the season.

Broncos are ridiculous, under any other team in the Sydney Mam would've been fired and barred from the NRL. Broncos in tangent with the QLD police over there are essentially doing their best to sweep this under the rug. Could you imagine if any Sydney team bar the Roosters have their star player do the same thing

Just read on Fox that the Roosters also offered Hunt a job after retirement. How is this within NRL rules ? Also is there any restriction on the amount they're paid ?. Pretty ridiculous if a club that can afford it like the Broncos or Roosters can offer a few hundred grand extra sweetener as a job and it's not counted under the cap. There needs to be a rule on this even of the player gets paid 10 years after they finish playing IF it's part of a package offered to the player at any stage of negotiations. Funny how when Jacko retired a year early we had to include his wage as part of the cap to work for the club

We don't know what happens at Dragons training and they lost Amone as the NRL de-registered him. Different rules for Broncos and Roosters. Much of our opinions of Kyle Flanagan is due to his on-field performances with us. He had a much better season than Jayden Sullivan who Richo can't even pay to now get rid of. Ben Hunt as Dragons captain and highest paid player needed to be held accountable something he couldn't handle and Griffin allowed him to do as he pleased. Some of Hunt's recruits to Dragons hurt them back and only now recovering.

What's even worse than the Broncos support of Mam is how complicit Peter Badel, others at Courier Mail and QLD Police all been in watering down the Mam case and in some aspects heaping the blame on a 4yo kid and an Uber driver who was licensed, driving on the right side of the road and free of drugs.

The Broncos really do make a mockery of the NRL norms and standards.
Someone needs to help me to understand how the salary cap regulations can afford them having Haas, Carrigan, Walsh, Reynolds, Cobbo, Stages, Mam and now and upgraded Willison and Hunt in a 30 man roster under 13 million escapes me. They are literally paying the remaining 20 players $100K each.
As for Mam, the entire moral and acceptable standards of player discipline displayed by the club are not even close to passing the pub test.

Thanks for your kind words, i really appreciate it, it means alot to me. I know we don’t agree about football, and I might take it personal and get abusive, it’s cause I’m passionate about the club and don’t like people putting it down. But at the end of the day it’s only a sport and life and family is more important.

Didn’t south do the same with GI and Sam burgues? They offered them jobs and retired them earlier freeing up cap to buy more players.

By the time we find out hunt will be retiring lol.

December 16 is the court case.

I am expecting the Bronco experts from here. (not me) to be at the court & filing their reports on here. lol

Souths "medically retired" them two. Jackson wasn't medically retired. I recall Inglis copped a season ending injury in 2019 and that was what they used to just retire him off.

GI wasn’t at his best cause of his injuries so they offered him a job, he could’ve kept playing, we had Thompson and Foran that hardly played but we couldn’t medically retire them.
