I'm probably sure part of the Hunt/Dragons termination to end a rocky marriage on the best terms possible without any settlements extended the deal until Monday week to cover any possible insurance issues. Hunt was quoted on the official Dragons release so I'm sure everyone would have felt relief over anger with yesterday.

Didn't Gus do the same with TPJ and was praised accordingly? Nothing came off our cap and we moved on from a player club relationship that didn't work out. Well done to Gus.

Because there was no settlement and no financial pay off to TPJ he was freely allowed to join another club which he ultimately did.

They're nothing alike. TPJ was a net negative impact on our side, there was no purpose to him. He provided more inadequacies than positives.

Ben Hunt was Dargons primary playmaker, even if they sign Gutherson to play 6, that's not going to fix what Hunt brought for that side. Yes Hunt has his negatives but the clubs stocks and realistic potential stocks to replace Hunt are vastly inferior. Flanagan just made his side favourites for the spoon with junior leading the side.

No, Gus didn't do the same. The major difference is that in 2023 TPJ actually 'retired' from the NRL to take up a boxing career so he was not released, he actually left rugby league for another profession.
Yes, we all know what eventuated but that had nothing to do with us. He lost contract money (an estimated 750k according to Fox) for quitting the Bulldogs before his contract expired.

Ben Hunt IS being released to explore his options in the NRL despite having one year left on his contract. After Hunt's recent statements on Kyle F and the Dragon's in general, St GI may very well be paying some tariff to get rid of a nuisance.
I don't know, nor do you I suspect.

We need to make the decision now and he's not good enough for top 4. We're a chance of sliding outside the 8 with Sexton at half. It's clear we're missing an experienced half with how our season ended.

Saints CEO said Hunts 2025 contract has been mutually cancelled & Saints are not paying another dollar.
